This is a question about Flashbios..

BTW, i have a 1.6 box with the X3 flashed with 1959. and im still happy with the chip.

My questions are.. what exactly is Flashbios? what does it do? should i update it?

3.03 fixed no boot/slow boot issues, what about previous releases?
i think i missed some news.

can i ruin the chip with a bad flash of cromwell?
Update flashbios via flashbios or X3 config?

yes i have searched the forum.

well... i would appreciate an answer, but it's not that bad if i don't get one.

FlashBIOS is simply a reworked legal Cromwell BIOS used to flash your chip and lock/unlock your HDD. It does nothing else except this. You don't need to update it as you only run the BIOS you boot from. Unless you feel the need to update it, then leave as is.

I have Flashbios 3.00 that came with the chip and never had any problems with it, i just wanted to be up-to-date but with the info, i guess i'll leave it as it is.
Thanks for the answer.

Can you swap a 74850c PCB to a 93450c?

Ok so.... I apparently cannot solder for crap, and messed up my 93450c board while trying to repair a few trace cuts after desoldering a Maximus Litekey.

Before:

After:

Now, I just bought a 74850c as the replacement drive.

I have the key from my original 93450c and I'm planning on just using the 74850c as the new drive.

But, I was wondering, is it possible to swap the 74850c PCB into my brand new 93450c? Would it work?

I only ask because my 934 is practically brand new, with hardly any hours on it, the 74850c I have no idea how old it is and how many hours or abuse it has taken.

So... there you have it.

yes - boards are identical - just flash it using the 9series LT fw with your key!
