Just did a crystal 1.6 with x3 and lpc rebuild.Went to power up the box with no response on the power/eject buttons.Disconnected the power /eject board and plugged in the stock plug and am able to boot to the original dash with a blue led on the x3 board.Checked for bridged solder on the back of the power /eject board and also checked all the voltage points.Trace looks good and so do the connectors.Looking for some hints on what to have a look at next. Thanks dudes.

Just helped a friend with an install and we're having the exact same problem. We will be checkin the power/eject modded board for continuity, but all other suggestions are welcome. We have 3 lights on the chip iteslf, 2 blue, 1 red (if that helps)

The first X3 chip that was shipped to me had a defective power/eject adapter. The place where I ordered it is replacing it. In the mean time, the system should work fine without it. You just can't boot into the backup BIOS.

booting

Well, when We boot up it boots to the Flashbios screen only and prompts for a bios from CD or network etc. It doesn't go past that at all because the chip is "always" on. Due to not having the ability to turn it off. However When i try and navigate the menu to choose where to flash it from none of the Controls work. It boots up where i select where to install the bios from, and I can't do anything. Any other suggestions?

dunno about the power/eject problem, but as far as the flashbios menu:

Are you using a standard MS controller?

If you are try with only one controller plugged in, no memory cards or dvd dongels

If that fails try 1 standard controller with the dvd dongel plugged in, I read somewhere theres a new ms controller which only seems to work in the flashbios menu with a dvd dongel plugged in.

Update for you dudes.....firstly I had only the 5v led lit so went back to the lpc rebuild and resoldered pin15 and then got the 3.3v led runnin.Went over the external switch cable and found a pin bent on the x3 molex connector which I straightened out. Was then able to hook up the power/eject board and everything booted up properly! Now what i have is no bios screen and after about 30 seconds the eject led will turn a steady orange.....I have tried mulitible combinations of bank switches with still no bios screen....the external switch led lights blue and red (will boot to original MS dash) also purple. All this leads me to believe I have the hardware issues sorted out ...or do I ???? Lastly I used a preflashed x3 from a version 1.0 on the crystal box and the still no "rox the box"....closer but still not there.

Your pre flashed x3 will not work... it has the wrong 1959
you need 1959_v16plus for your 1.6 board.

steady Orange is corrupt/wrong bios

If your solder is good then in backup (press pwr & rst together)you should get Cromwell??.be careful here...just hit the buttons do not press them.
If you hold the buttons too long then backup will boot but no video.

with cromwell up reflash with correct v1.6 bios

No Power with moded power/eject switch

Sorry to steal the thread away from the original poster....
I forgot to add that I do not get any power on when using my power/eject mod board, I can only power the xbox on while the standard power/eject cable is used. Does this sound like a bad power/eject board? How did they have you trouble shoot your bad board? If you dont mind who did you buy your chip from, and how did you go about getting a replacement switch/board thing.

I have tried hitting the pwr/eject combo and ended up with a purple led on the external switch....but still resulted in a no bios screen and after 30 seconds a steady orange led on the eject button. One difference here is when I try the backup on bank 1234 I get a flashing green led on the eject...then trying 5678 I get a steady green led on the eject (both ending in a steady orange).

running out of ideas...you have a standard AV cable and is connected good at the back of the xbox right??

I can repeat this if i load cromwell 3.0.3 on chip with version 1.6
your suppplier should flash different version in the banks

what happens with no bank selector switch connected..
r u sure you have the pins straightend out!

you should have another bios loaded on bank two...if dip switches have no bent pins...select off,on,off, off, off and boot.

if all fails
put chip in non 1.6 board and see if u can flash then..

or return chip to supplier and request cromwell3.0.1

Success!!.... here is how....took the x3 out of the crystal box and put it in a v 1.0....booted to cromwell on bank 1234 than flashed 1959 1.6b to the chip.Installed it back inthe crystal box and got "rox the box". But as always a catch....switched to bank 5678....no cromwell. Must be one little thing I am missing here.

Great....now you can boot into X3 config live...
set it up with an ip address and ftp then either put cromwell 3.0.1 on the C: drive or another copy of 1959

Use config live to flash second bank 5,6,7,8 from hdd

the second bank is preflashed with 3.0.3 which does not work with 1.6 boards so simply replace with a bios that does

Just one final note here and that is concerning the power/eject board (which is what the thread started with). I don't believe the board ever did have a problem....what I did was peel the sticky off the back and inspected all solder points and trace. All was fine and since there are no resistors or other componants there is not much that can go wrong with this part of the mod.Again it comes back to checking the work you have already done. Double and triple check everything!!!!

Indeed. I had the same exact problem and the power/eject board was defective. The last thing I tried with my troubleshooting was to leave the modchip installed and use the original power/eject. It worked fine. I had a 2nd X3 so that quickly determined that the one power/eject board was defective. I'm waiting for the replacement to arrive, but the unit will work fine without it in the meantime.
