Hi, I've been browsing through trying to find a listing for my prob, but can't find one.. so here goes..

I have a Crystal Xbox, dated 2004-09-10 with Hynix ram, so with this
in mind, I conclude that it is a 1.6b, correct me if i'm wrong.

I have the X3 chip.

I have followed the tutorial for the 1.6 and also soldered the alt 5v point.

Now, I've modded before, other X3's even without a single prob. Just
not on any 1.6 or 1.6b.

When I put everything together and plug in the power chord, I see
the external Bank switch light Red.. this without the xbox being powered
up..

I try to hit the power button, but nothing happens.

Anybody?

thx

UPDATE!

Ok, so I removed the modchip, and reconnected the power/eject cable originating from the xbox and tried booting it up, what happens is that
is starts to boot, stops, starts to boot, stops and then starts again and stays on, but no picture comes on screen.

What can this problem resemble? Maybe som solder points not
good enough? and if so, anyone know as to which could create this
problem? Maybe the alt 5v?

sounds like u probably have a solder splash somewhere causing a short m8, take the board out and have a really good look around the area's u soldered if u r lucky u might spot something, if in doubt take chip right out and get the xbox working correctly before trying to reinstall the chip, if u still got the error with no chip installed then it 99% a short somewhere probably caused by a small drop of solder. u did remember to remove the extra pin in the header when u used the alternate 5v?

I have the same problem.

I think that I may have been too genrous with my soldering iron, and used too much solder.

Now, the xbox does not work - with or without the chip.
- I have even de-soldered the LPC rebuild PCB, all the contacts are clean, but, the xbox FGAGs. I did not remove any extra pins, and did connect an alternate 5v. would that have killed the xbox?

Any help is appriciated, as I just forked out 100 GBP (180 USD) for a new crystal xbox :-(

Well, I've tried to clean all the solder, and I did remove pin 6 from the pin header, but to no avail.. still frags..

I even tried the wire install, but there are something I don't understand.
The wires are to be soldered to different points, that's ok.. but there is a red wire that is being soldered where the alt 5v is going later.. does this mean you don't need the alt 5v or that you have to solder both to the same place?

Also, do you need the LPC rebuild with the wire install? There is another place where 2 wires are connected, though beit that one is on the top of the bord and one is on the bottom..

Is there anyway to fix the short? or is the mobo fried?

btw.. got another prob.. left my pin header on the table after
trying the wire install, now my dog chewed it up.. anyone know where I
could get another pin header? they are probably just normal electro
parts maybe, so I could just buy pins and the holder somewhere?

Any website ideas?

any info appreciated..

Ok, another update..

I desoldered everything.. and I mean all of it.. and tried to see if the original MS xbox would start.. and it DID!! So no damage to the mobo!

Now I know it's a solder prob, at least so far..

So I did it all again, really carefully.. checked all the solder points 5 times, and was happy with all the points, so I tried to boot it with modchip this time to see if woked.. no power. I'm back to start problem, were I
don't get a respond from pushing the power on button.
I disconnected the modchip power/eject switch, and plugged in the MS
power switch directly to the mobo, now the power comes on and DOESN'T
frag.. which is good.. but.. there is nothing coming on screen..

So basically, with original powerswitch to mobo, the power comes on and the led stays green..no frag.. but no screen either..
I plug the MS power switch into the modchip switch, and no power at all..

Any idea what this now could be?
Bad switch or bad solder...and if solder, what wire could be responsible?

E65

Is it possible a key got dumped wrong? Because when I use this key it gives me the e65 error. I flashed it normally with JF.
I even reflashed it with the original SAMFW. No good still. Hmm maybe the drive died. I can eject it, but still E65 pops up. When I flash it . It reads perfect everytime. Confusing. Dont know why it died. Anyone? :(

Re: E65

E65: DVD Drive Error.... DVD Timeout, Wrong firmware, dvd is without f/w chip, etc. This can also be caused by the tray not being fully closed on boot.

There you go :)

Re: E65

Yeah I flashed the FW onto another drive and it worked. Then flashed the key from that drive onto the bricked drive and that 360 gave me the same error as the other one did. Does anyone have a clue as to why this drive is giving this error, and can it be fixed? Thanks.

Re: E65

It worked when before I read the drive, and I can still flash to the drive. Wierd.

Re: E65

If the drive is not working in your 360 then the drive is knackered as its bringing the E65 error.

If you flashed the frimware to another drive and it worked with the current key then there you go.

OLD DRIVE KNACKERED!!!

Just use your ofw and spoof it to a working drive, simple.
agreed, it seems as if you have fried a part of your old drive

Re: E65

Yeah I flashed back to the orig fw, still E65. So it must of messed up the drive somehow. It is wierd though I can still eject it, and read/flash to it without a problem.

Re: E65

Might sound completely stupid, but change the small black sata cable inside the console. Any sata cable will do, i've had a similar problem in the past and a replacement sata cable fixed it.

Re: E65

Spoof your dvd key into a working drive and use that. Once your console is working, THEN smash the drive lol.
