Can we have custom partition sizes PLEASE

the fact that we can't have a 200Gb F: and 20Gb G: is a horrible limitation

also non partitioned space for native linux installs. like 200Gb F: and then 20Gb unpartitioned space to allow for a 20Gb Native linux install running off the ramaining space that way nothing would accidentally write to the non existant G: partition and corrup the linux install.

This is nothing to do with the chip mate to do with your dashboard

no it does have to do with the chip the bios is currently set to handle the partition table written to the disk and you can change you're partition sizes to whatever you want and use them fine until you reboot the box. But on boot the bios rewrites the partition tables to match the partition configuration set in X3CL it's a problem a few people have run into when trying to make custom sized partitions.

One last note the problem occurs even when the drive is fresly formatted and there is no dashboard present. Even when the only data on the drive anywhere is XBPartitioner

did you read the post I said the BIOS writes OVER the PARTITION TABLE on BOOT. As in no matter how you set the partitions up it gets rewritten by the bios. Think before you post :)

Drive E should have a larger partition than 5gb for those of us that want a larger collection of Soundtracks (cd ripping)

Unfortunately from what I've read changing drive E is a bad Idea as microsoft kind of ties you into it with the way they desighned the system. I don't know any of the datails of it but if it is true it may be fixable with a bios hack or a dash mod that just changes the size to a different one but then again it may not be that simple and if it is it still requires a system level mod which alot of peop;e are not comfortable with as it could cause problems later if for example MS starts looking for modified bios or dashes with some games or apps.

Agreed...would be a great addition with the new XICS to be able to have control over partition sizes to more completely customize an install. It would also be more versatile for the linux users as was mentioned earlier in the thread.
