Could anyone reccomend a method for cutting the front panel for adding the X3 LCD. I Know to use a dremel, but with which cutter. Most dremel cutters melt plastic. Any help would be appreciated.

Hot knife, coping saw, three sticks of crisco, 2 pints of bourbon, one inflatable animal (your choice), duct tape, and a copy of the special episode of the golden girls ...

Mightn't make the best hole, but it will raise some eyebrows when you take that stuff through the checkout at WalMart :D

BTW - With the Dremel ... use the fibre cutting wheels. They disintegrate faster, but you get a better cut on plastic. Also, score along where you are going to cut with a utility knife first (help minimise chipping - shouldn't happen, but occassionally does). Remember it is better to undersize your cut, then grind it out to correct fit, than to try to fill in gaps.

thanks for the quick reply.. I think i will try my luck with the fibre cutting wheel. maybe the crisco and golden girls. ;)

Another quick tip - mask off where you are cutting, then if you slip slightly, you wont damage your case.

that is a good suggestion, TokenUser. with the RPMs that a dremel gets up to it is easy to make a little slip.

why not wait for the control panel, it already has the hole for the lcd plus it just looks cool.
