I need help installing a dashboard from disc. I have installed x3 in v1.2/1.3 xbox and finally managed to download bios 3108 from a disc I made. I know people will think I'm stupid, but I cannot get a dashboard on the thing. I've read lots of tutorials on this but none seem to work. I have Nero 6.6 and craxtion4. I have downloaded avalaunch and evox from xbins. What am I doing wrong? Could someone explain or point me in the direction of an explanation to do this precisely. Dashboard Boot Priority lists several dashboards, but when I choose avalaunch nothing happens so...I evidently didn't get it put on there. I put a dummy and boxplorer on the same disc but I don't think Avalaunch dashboard, avalaunch.xbe (default.xbe) got turned into an iso file. Please someone help, Ive been at this for about 16 hours and the xbox just sits there with a pretty blue light on the switch taunting me.

- I also tried ftp but couldn't get that to work so I'd like to have a disc.

because you used 3108 you will not be able to change your clock or message, because 3108 has keyboard issuses. use 3029 for now untill they fix it. as four the other things, I think your tryin to do to much to your dash, try evox it's easyer

OK I flashed 3029. Ihave evox and avalaunch on a disc now(finally). I renamed both xbe files default.xbe and they load fine. They however go away when the xbox is turned off. I know I need to ftp into it and rename them but I absolutely cannot get my snobby xbox to speak with my computer. I have read tons of tutorials on this but it isn't happening. evox tells me my IP is192.168.100.10 it also tells medefault gateway is 192.168.100.1 I use flashfxp and I know my computer is talking to it because the red lan light flashes but the connection times out. Evox also says is Type Network. My firewall is off and the hardrive is unlocked. I'm about ready to throw the damn thing. Help please!!!

Thanks also 3dogs. g$$$

I think I heard this some where, try it with your firewall on.
???

Yeah, you could try that...

Or you can give a little more info. BTW when your lan line is blinking it means... pretty much nothing. All that means is your nic is recieving layer 1 traffic. It doesn't mean that it can decipher it!

Anywho... let's get some info on this and we'll get you through it.

I need...

1. your set up - cross-over, switch, router?

2. your PC IP and such (do an IP config /all

3. your xbox IP and such (which you've given already... just want to throw it in.)

Don't throw in the towel yet. Remember what Sean Conery said in that movie the Rock

"Losers whine about thier network, winners go home and f*** teh prom queen!"

...or something like that!

OK guys.

1. I'm using a crossover cable from my ethernet port.

2. I did a search on the net for [computer IP] and it said my IP was 12.222.155.159

3.I'm not sure on my xbox IP, the Evox screen says 198.168.100.10 however, this is the value that was in the evox.ini notebook page. I also have an evox dash disc that has the IP as 192.168.0.1 which I entered in the evox.ini as per the tutorial I was using. Anyway, I think you can change these in the dash settings.

Settings on the X3 settings menu are:
DHCP:disabled
Set Static IP: 192.168.0.1
Set subnet: 255.255.255.0
Set Gateway IP:192.168.0.100
Set DNS1: 0.0.0.0
Set DNS2: 0.0.0.0
ftp and login are both X3. I see now, after installing this new BIOS that these can be changed as well, so I'm not sure of my xbox IP. When I first started, I had flashed 3108 and couldn't enter anything so I didn't even know you could. Does this chip list my xbox's IP.

... OK, this needs some clarification.
A "crossover cable" is a cable that you would use to connect your computer DIRECTLY to the Xbox, which means that you are NOT using a hub, a witch, a router, etc.

IF you are connecting your computer DIRECTLY to the Xbox via ethernet port then your computer CANNOT have the IP you have specified. "12.etc.etc.etc"
12 is the beginning of an address specified by an internet service provider.
(Comcast, SBC, etc)
Your computer would have to have a different IP, likely one that ALSO starts with "192.168.etc.etc".
To change your computer's IP address disable DHCP, and input a "Static" IP address.

Want to know what I suggest?

SCRAP the FTP idea, and download Slayers 2.6 from the usual places.
Slayers is a boot disc that RUNS when you boot the machine, and gives you the oppurtunity to install EvoX, Avalaunch, XBMP, and XBMC all in one shot!
You can select to let Slayers wipe your drive and do a brand new install, OR simply install all the apps.

Happy Modding.

ps, be careful, if this HD has saves on it, and you don't back them up, IF you select to have Slayers do a fresh install you will lose all gamesaves.

Thanks for the reply, I thought about that but I would still like to ftp into my xbox. I am having trouble locating slayers as it is no longer you know where. I guess I'll just keep looking though I'm not having fun anymore.

The number starting 12........ is the number I got when in DOS IPconfig/all. When I plug a cable int the xbox and my ethernet port 192.168.0.1 is displayed in the lower left corner of X3cl. I'm not having fun anymore.

There is a Slayers Bit Torrent in the usual place under Auto Installers,......check those peeps doc!

IF for some reason that isn't working out, search through xbox-scene it is there.
