ANSWERED Dashboard question and help.

Hey guys, im not a noob but I haven't posted enough to create a thread on the big kids topic page so i got sent here any ways here is my dilemma. I flashed my friends liteon 0251c disc drive a while ago and everything was fine. I told him do not update your dashboard if prompted to while on xbox live, well he accidentally did it without me being able to flash his drive to ltplus 3.0 first. Now here is my question is it possible to reflash his drive to a stock firmware before lt 3.0 came out update the dashboard to an older dashboard that is compatible with 2.0 and then apply the most recent dashboard update and reflash to 3.0?

I already did that and everything seemed to be working. However, I tried to apply the most recent system update via USB stick and the xbox would not automatically prompt the system update to begin. Is this because the flashing process got messed up? is the only possible way to do the system update through xbox live because of the mishap mentioned earlier?

Yes HDD was attached, that is why I am so confused because every other time I've used the USB stick method to update it always prompts itself.
