GENERAL Dashboard update?

Hi guys,

I need few answers about dashboard update. So, :

1. My friend want to update dash to 13599 (or the new one) but he have old 2.0.12625 dash and LT 1.1 fw. He don't won't to get back to stock fw because he don't go to Live so is it OK to update from USB? Will that go well or it will be same as CD and to get stuck on dash installation?

2. My other friend have problem to update dash over the Live - he get's stuck and get that error code. Could it be that he's drive is spoof or something like that?

So,

2.0.12625 + LT 1.1 + USB dash update = OK + FLAG
2.0.12625 + LT 1.1 + CD (game) dash update = stuck on install + FLAG
2.0.12625 + LT 1.1 + Live dash update = OK + FLAG

???

I would still revert back to stock firmware and then update the dashboard. The reason I say this is because the console will most likely throw up an error if you try to update with LT firmware on the drive.

Even i he do update over USB?

I have never done that so I'm asking if anyone done and is that OK

That all can be fix with flashing on LT 2.0 (if it get's error) right?

As blakey has said revert back to stock regardless as it might throw back an error,

Even if the update is successful, your drive will be flashed back to stock (updated revision) firmware anyway so you will still need to open up the console to flash it again.

If it gives an error on the update then flashing to stock is what will fix it. You would probably save yourself some time and hassles if you just flash to stock first.

Yes, I understand about geting o new OFW but he want that because he have original games and later he will flash to LT 2.0 to play HIS backups

That's why he want to update but he don't know how - USB, Live or CD

I'd say that USB was your best option.

Updates can be done either way but I would recomend a usb stick saves wasting a disk, however it would be easier to go back to stock firmware to save the hassle of a failed update...
Read ubers sig it clearly states about going back to stock...
