I have installed an X3 and everything seems to be ok. Flashed BIOS, played in config live, FTP is working great. I have Evox on a DVD and it runs from the DVD. I have copied it to the hard drive and disabled config live auto start. I changed the default xbe to evoxdash.xbe. When I start th Xbox it goes flubber, logo (w executer logo) then stops. I can tell there is no hard drive activity from the LED. I also tried avalaunch and have the same problem. I know its somethins simple I've just missed right? My pins are on,on,off, off, off still from the flash. I have played a copy of a game I made through the x3 ftp, So everything seems to be working except loading the dash. Thanks to everyone for all the help so far, I was hoping my searches, FAQs and stickies would prevent me from my Noob posting but oh well. let me know if I need to post any more info about settings.

1. Where did you copy evoxdash.xbe / evox.ini (full path)?

2. In X3CL, what is your dashboard boot drive setup to?

3. what are your entries in the dashboard boot priority?

1. Where did you copy evoxdash.xbe / evox.ini (full path)?
ftp://192.168.0.2/C/evox.ini
This is the path from flashfxp so I think it means they are on my c: drive not in a folder.

2. In X3CL, what is your dashboard boot drive setup to?
Dashboard boot drive = c
3. what are your entries in the dashboard boot priority?
avalaunch.xbe
xboxdash.xbe
evoxdash.xbe
unleashx.xbe
xbmc.xbe

I had exvox at the top when I installed it but since I had no success I tried installing avalaunch and put that at the top

to boot Evox from C:\ you need to have:

/C/evoxdash.xbe
/C/evox.ini

As long as these files are present then it should boot, looking at your config.

This still puzzles me:

When I start the Xbox it goes flubber, logo (w executer logo) then stops
What do you mean, stops? What actually happens on screen?

The logos stay on the screen but there is no more action with the hard drive and it doesnt go to the the dashboard. Evox has worked for me from the dvd just not the hdd. X3 config live works when I hold the white button but when I reboot to dash the the screen goes black and nothing else happens. I will try to reinstall evox and see if that works.

Ok so I deleted the old files I had copied over, Loaded Evox from the dvd I made. Started FlashFXP. Copied evox.ini and default.xbe to my PC hard drive. Renamed default.xbe to evoxdash.xbe and copied evox.ini and evoxdash.xbe to the xbox c drive (did I miss a file I need?). I move evoxdash to the top of the loading order in X3CL and doublechecked the path was ok. Powered down the xbox and restarted. I got the Flubber, Xbox logo and executer logo and the is stops leaving the logo on the screen. Is there some other setting in X3CL that could be stopping me, I have looked everwhere and I dont see anything that looks wrong compared to the posts I have read. I think this goes on par with my luck with computers. Should I reflash? Or reinstall the chip, that seems extreme to me given it boots to the X3CL and to a dash from the dvd. Thanks for the time, Scott

I only left xboxbook.xtf xbox.xtf xboxdash.xbe on my xbox. It still sill not load any dash with one quick press of the power button. (blue led excuter logo on the external switch) With a long press (red logo on the external switch) the MS xbox dashboard loads.

And now for something completely different- for a change of pace I also tried installing xsnes it worked as an iso from dvd but still has the same problem running from the hdd. I am beginning to think I made a mistake somewhere on the hardware side. I am going to take the box apart and double check all my connections/soldering. I also promise to the xbox gods if I fix this I will help as many noobs as I can without sarcasim or negativity (a little prayer never hurts)

The fact that the MS dashboard doesn't load indicates a problem with X3CL.

Reset the X3 to factory defaults and try it again with the MS Dashboard.

I redownloaded a bios and flashed it from the hard drive now the dash board is loading. Looks like my bios was corrupt or my flash was bad. I did make one mistake though. I load flashbios with the switches set to off, off,on,off, off. I flashed from the disk but forgot to change the switches. It hung up during the flash and gave me a frag (first one, I wondered what they look like). Since I was still able to flash my drive should I worry about the frag or should I just forget it? Thanks for all your help, in this post and many others I have looked at. I could not have done this w/o the Xecuter forum. Scott

You *know* the reason why it fragged - you tried to flash a 1MB BIOS when your bank selected wasn't 1MB in size. Booting the backup BIOS and then reflashing to the correct banks fixes this as you're already aware!

I have this exact same problem. Everything is EXACTLY the same. This problem arose right as I was finishing my dual HDD mod... So I figured itwa s something to do with that, but I will try reflashing and I'll let you guys know what happens... If that doesn't work, I'm gonna need some serious help...

What BIOS did you flash to your chip?

So what do you see when you boot?

What media are you burning your dashboard CD/DVD to?

LOL Well I don't feel so freaken stupid now. OK mine is similar

I have tried 1879, 1943, 1959, and originally I started with 3294. At some point I have X3CL up and have never been able to get it since. I have tried booting with the white button, A+B+X+Y, right trigger, and nothing works. It boots to the Rox my Box logo and then nothing. I can press ejct+pwr and then Ejct and ftp flash, cd flash etc... if during the boot I lap Ejct+pwr I can boot to my dashboard but nothing passed that will work it just hangs.

I try entering x3, xbox, and various other passwords I have used in the earlier Bios versions and it comes wback with wrong password.

So I assume I changed the password (not even sure but must have) and now I need to reset it. I can FTP to the box with a browser window and I get "502 psv is not implemented" ALERT. I have tried ftp tools and it appears like my XBOX is empty but I can get it to boot (in backup bios mode) to my avalaunch dashboard. so I know there is stuff on my drive.

So I read that I can use default.xbe to erase everything and start from scratch. Now how do I use it?
Where do I put it? I assume a bootable CD.
Can I make one jsut as I did my bios.bin cd with the dummy file do it that way?
If so how do I initiate the defult.xbe file to erase everything?
Will it also erase my backup bios? Or just banks 1-8?

I know I am soo close I can almost taste it.

Lets play "I'll just put the tip in to see what it feels like"
