ok... first let me say i've scoured several forums and other people have had a similar problem, but the answers are always different. if this exact problem has been addressed, i apologize.

zephyr with freeboot 12625, aud_clamp/dvd tray wiring, no dvd selected to keep it from booting to xell 99% of the time.
i got dashlaunch 2.21
changed the launch.ini to
=======================================
[QuickLaunchButtons]
BUT_X = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558
Default = Hdd:\FSD\default.xex
[Settings]
nxemini = true
pingpatch = true
noupdater = true
=======================================

i copied the installer folder (with ini inside) to the xb hdd. i also copied the ini to the hdd root. in run dashlaunch installer and agree to the patch. i get a few prompts about launch.ini and skip making changes, then i shutdown.

after i turn the xbox on all i get is a flashing power button. no red lights, no e79.

i can boot into xell, but i have everything open anyway because i have to keep flashing the nand and retry.

in all the differnt posts i've read about this type of problem the paths are usually different...
the example path is "Usb" of "Hdd" but i've read of people using "LHdd" or "Usb0"....
I've tried using Hdd, Hdd1, LHdd, and LHdd1 and nothing works...

i'm beginning the think it's not an ini/path problem. any help?

first of all you can reflash the nand from Xell just rename your backup nand to updflash then put that on a formatted usb stick put it into the Jtags front USB.
Now plug out the power at the back of the console for a min plug it back in and hit eject Xell will boot and find the updflash.bin on the usb stick and reflash the nand.
When its finished power cycle the Jtag by plugging it out from the back for a min then back in and power up.
Now when you did the dash update did you install the Avatar update as well before you did dash launch.?

no i didn't... this is honestly the first i've heard about that causing a dashlaunch freeze. is it required?

edit: ps... yeah i know, but for some reason my xbox doesn't like my thumbdrive. it's probably a cheap pirate from china.

No its not required but there is a certain way to install the Avatar update or it messes up the Jtag with all different types of errors.
There is a tut in my Sig below how to do the install the right way also make sure you got Dash Launch v2.21 For FB 12625 from Auto Xbins because there is a pile of crap ones about.

wow... that was actually the case. xbins doesn't stay connected (if ever) here in germany, but that fixed it.

is it normal for it to take longer to boot to freestyle dash from the Hdd??? minor complaint.. just wondering. i don't see how it would be any slower than the official dash unless i was loading from usb or something.

yes thanks a lot... the launch.ini i had before has extra spaces in it that weren't in the rar i got from xbins. not sure if those are what made it freeze or not but... it's fixed.

yeah... there are so many different tut and fixes out there and none of them are the same. i try to do the leg work and read up before asking an age-old question, but all the bad info floating around makes it harder and harder.
