Data Backup After X3 Install - Question

Once you have your X3 installed and running (with a dashboard), are there any data files (not games) you should backup before installing utilities?

If so, what is the best method of backing-up the data? And, which files are mission critical for backup?

Thanks in advance -

If your worried... just backup your C Drive. X3 backs up the eeprom and stuff for you... but if you'd like... backup all of C and the admin folder... Should all fit on a CD.

Also... just FTP the files.

Thanks for the reply. Does the X3 auto backup the EEPROM, etc.? If so, where is it stored?

The Admin folder, he just told you. Yes, the X3 does an auto backup of the eeprom on first boot. Also create and save a copy of the x3data.txt.

The eeprom is stuff such as.... Your HD/mobo info. Your HD unlock key (I believe) Ect. I'm not sure how it might get erased... but it's always good to have a backup. Hell... you can sell it for $10 ;) get some extra cash if you wont be using live.

Yeah if your eeprom gets erased then you won't be able to boot.

FYI I just found out the hard way that your video settings are also stored on your eeprom. So be carefull when playing around with them..

I just completed my backup, and I have a couple of questions:

1. Two files failed to copy: 'c:/media/skins/default/keyboard2.ttf' & 'c:/media/skins/default/main.ttf'... When I manually browse to this folder, I can't see the files - has anyone else had this problem? Does it matter?

2. Does FlashFXP also copy hidden files?

Thanks again!

1. - I doubt it'd matter. Odds are you wont even need your backup...

2, - Yes - flash FXP is set to see hidden files
