some idiot has just brought me 2 xboxes he tried to flash and he has screwed both them up, thats right not one but 2. youd think after you wrecked one youd say "hold on a minute" but no:D

anyway i havent looked at the other one yet but this one is a benq which he said he tried to flash and now its not reponding to anything.

im using ck3 and usb pro and jf so ive tried ejecting it using my ck3 nothing, its plugged into my usb pro but unlike when i plug other drives in and power cyle them the wee blue light on the usb pro flickers nothing with this drive at all, jungleflasher not recognising it even if i try refreshing and intro'ing. it almost seems as if the thing is actually dead rather than just stuck.

anybody seen this before? could he have blown something flashing it or has he just erased the drive? surely though even had he erased the drive i would still be able to acces it when intro'ing.

everytime you think youve seen it all somebody manages to hit you with something new :D
cheers in advance

Have you tried the Benq bad flash recovery in JF v1.4.4?

I think it's round page 201 from memory :)

Don't forget if they are HDMI boxes you can dump NAND to recover lost keys :)

this happened to me last night, ( i was using a lite-on)

first i tried doing it and i closed jungleflasher cuz it wasnt responding and then i tried opening the drive up but it didnt work so i followed what this kid told me to do,

he said: press lite-on erase and continue from there (updating the firmware) idk if its the same with benq's but yeah!

try it i mean it could work it worked for me!

cheers guys but i think hes fried something in it (maybe plugged the power in the wrong way or something because i opened it there to test a few things with the meter and noticed a very small burn mark on the inside of the metal case it was right above a small component not sure what it is, 3 legs on one side and i big fat leg on the other like a transistor or regulator. anyway checked the component with a magnifying glass and it was swollen up as if it had blown.

anyway changed the component with one from an old scrap damaged benq board i had layin here but no dice yet so ive opened a good benq drive and im going to power it up and check the voltages round the various components on the board and compare against the broken one to see if he has blown something else as well. will report back for future reference

Do you have all the drive keys at least so you don't have to jtag it. Jtag is great but not if it is not necessary.
I very much doubt them being JTag'able but the RGH will be ok if they are HDMI consoles

I was going to suggest contacting Teajunkie he has got keys off fried PCB's on many occasions

However if you can get some replacement drives and you have the keys then you are good to go :cool2:

got it sorted. hed fried several components on the board, replaced the board with a spare one i had lying and was good to go. he also gave me a liteon that hed tried to flash that was still flashing and recognising but the disc not spinning up. turned out hed fried the laser on that one. after i fixed them and told him what was wrong he said oh yeah we had a feeling my mates pc was dodgy and shorting the ck3. oh well its sorted now cheers guys
