Deleting Software

Hey guys, i installed Slayer's 2.6, and there are things that I don't need now. Can I just ftp to the xbox, and start erasing directories that I dont need? For example, XBMP is obsolete (using XBMC), so can I just erase the directory, and the choice will no longer appear in the menu system of Evox? Same goes for emulators, or that dvd2xbox thing.. or are there "uninstall" methods, where i have to edit INI files so that they dont appear in the menus?

Thanks for the n00b help!

Depends on how it was put in. If XBMC is just in the Applications folder then deleting it should get rid of it in the menu...it may be added manually in the INI also or just that...so delete the folder then if it doesn't get rid of it, edit the INI.

I'm sure you'll have to remove the Emulators selection from the menu.

you must edit your evox.ini, and find any entrance for XBMP and delete it...

Cheers!

you might not have to edit your evox.ini. depending on how the evox.ini file is written. i have xbmc set to show up in my main menu. the script for that looks like this:

Item "Xbox Media Center","e:\apps\xbmc-expert\XBMC\default.xbe"

if yours comes up in your APPS menu then the script prob looks like this:

Section "Apps"
{
AutoAddItem "e:\apps\"
AutoAddItem "e:"
AutoAddItem "f:\apps\"
}

that will search all the folders in e: and f: \apps folders for default.xbe files that will show up in the list. in this case you can just delete the xbmp folder and it will not show up any more. and you can put the xbmc folder in there and it will show up. if you need any more help with this just send me a msg
