RGH DemoN GND Cap point came off

Ok, was just installing a DemoN and I soldered the GND point of the cable to the capacitor on the console and as I started bending the wire towards the DemoN the point came off completely taking all solder off the capacitor. No the console won't power on just chimes.

Anyone know's what value capacitor is that?

Did u check for any traces leading to that point?

Since it was a ground I am pretty sure u could run a wire to the chassis then to that side of the cap. Let me check to serif I can find the value for u

The traces are not important at the moment, I also lifted the cap completely and the pads are still there. I just need to replace the cap for now and see what happens.

Oh ok. At first I thought u lifted the pads and had a trace repair question

I don't have a board in front of me to inspect but unless there are traces from that point that was damaged you could likely just use the fat copper trace around the perimeter of the board as an alternate ground. Run demon GND wire to that and run a small wire from the cap to there as well.

Post a hi-res closeup picture of the actual damage so we can provide a better recommendation.

What he'll is saying is when it ripped the solder it took the pad off of the cap not the pad of the trace. Now he would like to replace the cap

The pad that is lifted is from the capacitor side (i.e. capacitor is no longer good/functioning).

However you might be shocked to hear this, I've just removed the capacitor completely and the console's booting fine. Even DemoN read the NAND and is booting stock NAND fine.

Guess will proceed with the CoolRunner installation now but still would like to know the value of that capacitor as might be needed in the future!

It's exactly the same (ground is ground) and much safer, plus it's cleaner looking too.

IPA, Scratch Pen, IPA, Flux, tin with small ball of solder, wire, done.

The leg to the left of the DemoN ground point is also ground, could go right to that without using any wire.
^Regarding this...

I wouldn't really recommend this but since I am working on a DemoN Slim right now I figured I would share. Maybe REV B Slim DemoN will have QSB point go right there :)

Well it's official, glitched got CPU key and now booting dash within 3-5 cycles. Didn't even trim CPU_RST but will do some fine tuning now.

WNYConsoles or anyone for that matter, if you feel adventures and want to remove that capacitor and then see if the console will give more consisting glitches between 1 & 2 cycles then please do share results with us.

Next Slim I get through here I'll give it a shot, would be a great find if it works!

Unless it was a fluke, I did 10 continues boot ups from J-Runner (F6/F7) and each time console booted 1 or 2 cycles.

The only thing I noticed is that now whenever the CoolRunner green LED blinks I hear a dim buzzing sound similar to those oscillators used on other glitch chips.

That happens not only on corona boards. I've a few trinity boards that do it.

In the case of a spelling error, I blame Tapatalk.

I didn't say it has anything to do with an oscillator, just sounds like it. After all there is no oscillator here!

Yep and it has absolutely nothing to do with the oscillator.
