Hi guys,

Need a bit of help with my demon. I was given a demon from a friend as he had trouble getting it installed and working.

I posted a thread asking if it might be faulty http://www.team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91873

I cleaned up the demon and proceeded to install it into a jasper, once installed i couldnt get the xbox to power on so i got my meter out and found a short between D4 and D5 on the demon qsb. So i corrected the short and the xbox turned on however i encounted another problem... i couldnt write to the demon "unkown nand flash device" in demon tool box.

I contacted my friend and asked him what problems he had with it and he too got "unkown nand flash device" in demon tool box.

I could get it to write to the demon in j runner but j runner would crash on me?????

So i decided to carefully remove the demon from my jasper and checked its read/write functionality with a micro usb cable and it works fine.

I was stumped but decided to give it another try but this time doing a wire install as i thought the quick solder points might be dodgy. After the wire install and to my surprise it worked!!!!! I could read/write to both nands no problem! SORTED!

I started to try different timing settings as my jasper was a bit stubborn with rgh2, im using a CPU reset cleaner to help with the glitch times. Then out of nowhere the fans sped up, the light on the CR wasnt blinking??? I switched it back to stock nand and again the fans would just speed it, no boot????

I then flashed my original nandump back to xbox nand with demon toolbox and then the glitch image to demon but still no success. Just before i had given up i used jrunner to flash both nands and BOOM!!!... booted both nands no problem! I then plugged in my 160gb hdd and formatted it ready for insatlling FSD but it was very late by now so i decided to get some sleep and then finish it off in the morning.

Morning comes and with a cup of coffee in one had and xex.menu in the other i go to turn on my jasper and the fans just sped up and no boot on both nands! WTF! F******G PIECE OF MS CRAP!

Weirdly, sometimes, when booting the glitch nand the fans would speed up for about 5-10 seconds then slow down to normal, then the CR light will flash and then it would boot?

Any ideas on this guys as im now a bald man after pulling all my hair out!

Ive checked with my multi-meter from pins on the nand to the demon for continuity and shorts and its all fine.

Im sorry i used one colour wire for wire install but thats all i had.

Let me know your thoughts guys.

Thanks

J

Why in the work would you do a wire install lol?

This sounds to me like an interference problem. Post pics of the CR install.

If you can't upload to the forum directly then look into photobucket or similar to share images.

the reason i tried a wire install was because i couldnt get it to to work with the quick solder points.

Also would i still get interference from the CR wen trying to boot stock nand as the demon disable's the CR??? Correct me if im wrong

If your wires are to close to the coils then it's possible. Another possibility is you disturbed the thermal compound on the heat syncs but you should be getting a RRoD on the stock if that was the case.

The fact you're having to install with wires proves that soldering is the fault here.

I suggest either soldering as instructed or getting someone to solder it for you.

I was just trying a different method of install as the demon was unsuccessfully installed by someone else and the quick solder points looked a damaged underneath.

My soldering may not be the best in the world nut i have done 5 slim installs with no problems

the only pic you posted of damage on the demon is a blank being bridged nothing else so how can we tell you if no pic are posted of the quick solder points that are meant to be damaged, it doesn't matter if you can solder or not if damage is done it needs to be repaired or replaced.

Since the demon is in question I would start by disconnecting the CR. after that I would get the retail NAND to boot from both the onboard NAND and from the demon and then work on the glitch.

What changed? Did you rearrange wires or anything?

I didnt change anything but i think i know what the problem is. I installed FSD and when i boot the demon nand the fans slowly get faster and faster. My GPU temp was around 79-80, putting the fans at 100% slowly bought it down to to about 73 which is way high. I think i may have disturbed the the thermal paste so tonight im going to replace it.

That could explain the problems ive been getting. Good work Krafter
