Hey guys,

So today I finally installed my xecuter demon on my phat slim trinity. Followed johnyguns video, but now when I connect the ext module via the micro usb to computer, the computer doesn't recognize it. Infact, there are no blue led light up on the ext module. I really can't tell if its my soldering or something I did wrong. I took as many pictures I could. When I plug in power, the red and green light on my coolrunner light up but no blue light on the demon. Here are pictures of my installation, please tell me what I am doing wrong!!

Check for continuity between the pins on the DemoN's external module and the pins on the DemoN's header (with the ribbon cable connected).

You need to be using a mini-USB cable with the external module.

I've moved this thread to the DemoN support section for you.

I am! It fits in the ext module slot. I dont have a multimeter to do a continuity check however :((( Could it possibly be a problem caused my the little points that are soldered to the motherboard? Like the ones that make the demon stick into place. Very tiny ones are what I am talking about. Should I desolder everything and start again? SO annoyed one why it isn't working.

Can you get close-up images of those DemoN quick solder points?

I can't zoom in for some reason.

It would also be an idea to desolder every wire apart from RB, 5v STBY and GND - you only need the quick solder points and those three wires soldered to read/write to the NAND.

Quick solder points are the ones on the acutal demon or the ones that need to be connected to the motherboard? LIke do you want pictures of the GND and etc or the little things that need solder to be flowed throughout. Hard to explain what I mean but basically is it the little pads or the bigger pads on the demon itself that require wire soldered to them.

The quick solder points are those copper-tinned pads that fit directly over those points on the motherboard.

I just need to see some clear images of those.

OK will I desoldered all the wires except the ones you mentioned and still no blue light on the EXT module. I have a NAND X as well so if I can use that in any shape or form, I will. Also, My camera can't zoom in on those points for some reason :////

I cant do the continuity test beacuse I dont have a mutlimeter :/ Not sure how to do one anyways :/

Also, I have tried another cable as well. The fact the blue led on the ext module doesnt turn on is the problem in the first place.

I am taking pictures right now to upload. Also, Can I use the nand x? Or something?

A multimeter should be a tool in every modder's toolbox.

Without running a continuity test, it's hard to say for sure.

You can use a NAND-X, but doesn't that contradict the fact that you have a DemoN? Lol.

Take some more photos, the images I've just seen are too blurry.

Attach them to your post - read this.

Oh, and the solder pad near the DemoN switch is just an anchor point and isn't connected to anything :).

Use Macro mode and keep a steady hand.

Which point?

It is just there to hold the DemoN in place while you solder the other pads (i.e. an anchor point).

Ok so I wanted to desolder the whole demon board and resolder it. basicaly I tried to desolder it and all the points near the 5v5 and GND came off :( and a few on the huge row of pads came off but a lot didn't which I figured out I hadn't flown the solder correctly on to them. Now I am truly confused on what to do.... I have the board uninstalled with all the wires uninstalled but now sure what to do with the ripped pads since I can't solder back to them anymore :/

Put the iron down, my friend. Best advice would be to take this to someone with experience in pcb repair. If the demon didn't buy the farm, traces will have to be scraped for the GND & 5V at minimum & it will be a wires only install from that point.

If you intend on soldering anything ever again, spend the $20 on a cheap Radio Shack meter. The solution would likely have been to reflow the point(s) with bad continuity & then done! That or it was a bridge to another point on the qsb as those points are very close together. A meter would tell you about that too.

I just re-read your post. I thought the 5V & GND pads came off too but if not, you will only need to do wires from the pads that correspond to the damaged pads on the qsb. Buy that meter though, along with flux & use a scratch pen.

What is the wattage on your iron?

Used alt points for demon slim and still same problem. No blue light. The soldering is fine and I am sure I soldered it all fine but no blue light comes up on the demon. Both the green and red light come on when I plug in the power though....

So I adjusted the ribbion cable and bam the blue led came on. Connected to PC and got Something about FF code. Read about it and saw it had to do with my nand wiring. I kept trying to wire them and stuff until one of the nand points became burnt.
