I also dread having to remove a demon and busting up the pads.
I was semi tempted to put a little bit of thicker double sided tape 3-4mm thick and then use a piece of awg30 kynar wire from chip to board, so when it came time to remove, I could just take small diagonal cutters and chop the wire.

Again, a reason why the DemoN is meant for professional installation.

If you choose to ignore the advice on the card, don't come here asking for help. It's that simple.

Before you even think about fitting the new one, I suggest you test the old one.
test the demon or the Xbox? The demon reads / writes fine but I think the main IC is shorted out or corrupted somehow from when it was attached to the falcon when it shorted out. The xbox, yes I should test that as well but it was booting fine so I'm assuming you were referring to the demon...which can read / write so I don't know what further testing can be done to determine if it's functional or not.

What do you think the main IC is used for? Do you not think that if there was an issue with it, it would affect ALL operations?

Or maybe you think that the NAND on the demon magically talks to USB by itself?

well something is corrupted on it, it may not be the main IC but some component on that demon is defective from the voltage spike.

yea just wrote the glitch image back to the onboard NAND and all is well besides a bit of a slow cold boot

and if you were referring to the console which had the voltage spike on it...no it doesn't work.

on my 256MB jasper i jumped 1.8v also and always get 1-2 cycle boots cold. as far as the resistors go for the demon conversion i was under the impression they were 10k ohms, not 2.2k ohms..... that is what i used in my box and it works perfectly. Installed resisitors before bb conversion kit hit shelfs...... i dont like waiting, the moment the firmware hit the shelf i had already installed it...... also I had the same problem with the nand 16mb conversion when i first built my demon nand image. but then again no one really put up a guide for this at that point, and i thought j-runner would figure it out and convert it automatically, when demon is plugged in. (Would like to see in future versions, might help people, who dont fully understand how it works, and saves us all a couple of mouse clicks.)

yea I'm still a bit confused on how the big block kit works...I just got the demon in the mail and here goes another round.

how did you create your NAND image for the demon...select jasper 16mb in jrunner and hit create image and then flash that to the demon?

ok it looks like my other demon was good and it's definitely a problem with building the demon NAND. I have the 2 2.2k resistors installed for the BB kit but gavin is saying they should be 10k ohms? I have followed these instructions on building my demon NAND image (and yes I have selected Jasper 16mb for the NAND size):

1. Build your image with the 'noremap' option ticked in Xebuild Advanced Options.
2. Erase your DemoN NAND.
3. Write the new image using Advanced - Write DemoN/Fusion NAND (handles bad blocks).

Post the output if it doesn't work.

and no joy...what the HELL is going on?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK yea the resistors must be 10k ohm not 2.2k cuz I just tried the original BB kit with the jumper wires coming off of it and it fired right up....so I originally had the right BB kit installed with the wrong size demon NAND...then I had the right size NAND flashed with the wrong resistors wired up...I was flip flopping all over the place...HOLY sh*t MOTHER OF GOD THANK CHRIST THAT IS OVER WITH!!! bitch ass demon.

Oh Snap, it might be time to unlock that achievement again.
I just a demon for my friend and I put a post up, retail side RROD 0020 unless I boot the glitch side at least once, every time the power cord is disconnected.

wow that's some weirdness right there...so many odd things happen, it has to be for a reason though that's what I keep learning and it's usually something basic and overlooked, or slightly hidden.

Im far from a pro. My first install I did for myself, and I went demon and rgh2. No problems on the demon. RGH is another story.
Same with rjtag. it seems its just a troublesome jasper, because same rjtag i put in a falcon and was hitting Perfecto within 2 hours of install.
Did you use chip-quik to remove the demon? Im putting off extracting mine to the new falcon in the meantime.
