Demon slim nand size & compatibility?

I reading the specs on demon slim which suggest a 16mb nand, and compatible with all slim including corona.
What confusing me is 4GB slims, implies a 16 mb freeboot image is made for the demon?
Since there are SB and BB versions for phat, i was confused with a 16 mb working on a 4gb console...
