You don't have to but it's easier. I also have a 1.0 x-box, but all I did was put a little extra solder on the top of each hole, put the pin header on, and solder the extra on to the pins individually. I know I keep saying this but I still think it's the easiest setup for 1.0 x-box.

If you don't want to touch the LPC go for the wire setup. You don't need to desolder the LPC, but you are gonna want to solder something.

Great way of flashing from laptop

Hello all,

I was delighted when i saw this item on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320475558682&_trksid=p2761.l1259) but after buying it and plugging it in and installing the drivers it wouldn’t work with jungle flasher. I expected this to happen so i tried to uninstall the drivers and do a manual install the portio32 drivers as per instructions with jungleflasher.

But my laptop wont accept the portio32 drivers as compatible with the device (see attached).

Has anyone experienced the same problem or has a solution, any help or pointing me to a site where i could get drivers that will work with jungleflasher would be great.

Thanks

Re: Great way of flashing from laptop

PortIO isnt a replacement for VIA Drivers, also with the latest version of JungleFlasher you don't actually need to install portio32 at all as it calls it on-the-fly.

Have a read through these:

The FirmWare Mod - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8EU17Q0H (basic overview of what you are undertaking)

Setting Up Your VT6421 PCMCIA Card For Flashing - http://bit.ly/bNoZgu (essential for LiteOn's are the 'freeze')

JungleFlasher Tutorial - http://bit.ly/cDXYlX (JungleFlasher tutorial, obviously)

you dont install the port io drivers in jf 1.70 as mentioned above but make sure you have configured your via card drivers etc before flashing liteons
oh and read jf tutorial and then read it again so you dont sh*t your self when it freezes lol
