Still could be a dashboard update. Which dashboard were you on before it asked for the update? Did the update complete the first time it asked for it?

If it's a failed update

Try this...

Clear Any Failed system updates that cause the console to error.

1. With the console off, press and hold the sync up button (the small one which you connect the pad with)
2. While holding the sync button press the power button to turn on the console
3. Continue to hold the sync button until the Console has booted up completely.
4. During the boot process the console should clear any failed updates, allowing you to use it normally.

(copied from el nino post to save time)

Not sure that that's the problem but woth a try first off

Ok best to flash your drive back to stock to rule out any firmware issues. If you flash back to stock then update the xbox to the latest dashboard 14699 you will see if it is a hardware issue. These two things will rule out firmware or failed update issues. If you still have issues then it is your disc drive failing most likely.

Once these steps are done (if it fixes the issue) you're in the clear to flash to lt3.0 and everything will be up to date.

Let us know how it goes

I had a similar problem with my DG-16D2S 0401 drive. Everytime I'd eject the rol would bling but the tray wouldn't open.

I was using a replacement pcb with the solderless adapter. I soldered the wires onto the pcb and discarded the adapter.

This solved my problem. Hope this helps
