FIXED DGX won't glitch a Corona v1 board (no green pulse)

I'm trying to retrieve the keys from a corona v1 board (something I did before), but it's not glitching, I get no green pulse from the DGX. I also don't hear the crystal from the DGX.

I already did 1 corona v1 and 2 trinity's with this DGX but this is the first one failing.

I tried:
  • The alt point for CPU_RST
  • Resoldered all wires at least twice
  • A long wire for POST_OUT (even though that's for trinity's)
  • Rewriting the orig image and desoldering the 5V wire from the DGX leaving all other wires connected and the Xbox still boots fine
  • Tried the ECC v2 from Martin C (while that should make no difference, as it doesn't glitch in the first place)

The only difference here is that the other boards were on 16197 or 16202 and this one on 15574, but I don't see that making a difference.

Anyhow, I though maybe the DGX broke, so I tried another trinity (so my third trinity) and that one went also fine.

This leads me to think that the crystal for the corona might be defective, or perhaps DIP #8. Therefore, would it be safe to connect both sides of DIP #8 with each other (using some kynar wire) to see if it will glitch then?

Does anyone have any suggestions of things I can try?

Right, my apologies. I made about 100 pics to get some decent ones using my smartphone, when my roommate gets home I can hopefully upload better pics made with a real camera.

But for the meanwhile, would connecting the legs from DIP #8 achieve the same result as turning the switch to ON position?

A right I see it now, it a V3. So stupid of me! I identified it based on the NAND, but both v1 and v3 can have hynix I see now.

Luckily I already ordered a POSTFIX adapter so I should be on my way soon! :)

Just one more question though so I won't screw up anything more, I should bridge R2C7 and R2C6. Should I do so like in the attached images (the blue lines)? And can I leave them bridged afterwards? I will revert back to my orig NAND and already have my key for when LTU comes out.

Thanks a lot for your help and the very quick responses!

So it does no harm if you don't glitch afterwards but revert back to stock NAND?

Nope - look at the close-up image of the points you're bridging. They go nowhere but the larger solder points for E and F. Remember of course these points are joined on every other type of console.

Okay, thanks again! :)

Also, I got the key on the very first glitch after installing the POSTFIX and having bridged the points, lol :rolleyes2:.

Oh btw, how come I didn't hear the crystal like you hear on v1 corona's? My experience is they are quite loud but I didn't really hear anything this time.

on my experience only on a corona v1 made like a "cricket" noise every time the green led turns on. i dunno why, but it's nice (on Maximus Stinger 3.1 + 48mhz Oscillator at least)

btw nice and clean install...:cool2:
