Did I get bad chip? Please help

when i turn my box on with X3 enabled the flashbios screen comes up but none of the options are highlighted and I can't go any further. I have the standard switch set with only 1 and 2 on the X3 has 2 blue leds and the red led lit, the switch has blue xecuter logo. I want to flash with X3 3108 bios.

ver1.3 box
X3 pin header
standard hard drive(for now, a buddy is doing some work on a WD 250GB)

sorry got a little frustrated but, got a post on another site telling me that only a stock m$ controller works tried that and everything went great!

Here is a good one for you all to chew on. Installed X3 on a v1.6 all went well untill I tried to flash the bios. Booted to FlashBIOS v3.01 but the controller that came with the xbox wouldn't let me navigate the menu. I borrowed my brothers controller and everything went 100%. The controller that came with the xbox worked fine for everything else but to navigate the FlashBIOS menu.
There was nothing else hooked up to the other 3 controller spots and I even tried it with my LAN cable unhooked. There was just no way this NEW XBox controller was going to let me navigate the BIOS menu. The old worn right out controller = 100%.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hope it may help others with a simular problem.

Yeah, thats an uncommon occurance, but not unheard of. Its just one of those thing u gotta live with i think.
