I used the nand-x "JTAG NON-XENON Cable" & "JTAG J2D2 QSB" with the diodes in the shrink tube, which direction does the line have to be turned? I keep getting E79 error, but after turning on/off the system I got it to boot xell and got the cpu key. I got the the qsb switch to 330 and set the jumper to 330 and have tried others but I cant get passed this error.
Thanks in advanced...

6683, cb 4558, mb zephyr. It boots to xell and fsd but every other boot up it goes to e79. I've tried setting the jumper to 470 and thats where I get the best results but it every other boot the error pops up

My wiring is fine it's got to be the mobo, but if someone found how to fix this could share that would be great...

Should I just update it then RGH it? Or is it going to be a pain still with rgh?

I did all that and know I get the error every time.

Will this work?

EDIT: The solution I posted does work (Alternate SMC.bins), USE xeBuild_GUI_2.085 ("AUD_CLAMP + EJECT") OPTION!!!
Which means your soldering was bad to begin with.

Again, no pics so help is incredibly limited

aud clamp and open tray wiring works best i find on these but doesn't seem to be included in jrunner so i use multibuilder gui for building my image which has the aud clamp/opentray option. only drawback as far as i can see is a buzz through the speakers when you turn it on and the occasional tray opening on power up.
They're not included because I'd expect people to be able to solder before attempting a JTAG. If you can't solder to DB1F1 or any of the alt points, put down the soldering iron and get someone who can.

I've had to repair so many JTAG installs where TRAY_OPEN has been used, purely because it's an indicator of how bad the person is at soldering that they've had to resort to cutting into the DVD power wire. I've NEVER had to resort to using TRAY_OPEN and TBH should be wiped from all tutorials and apps.
