OK my 360 with the ms25 drive is giving me greif alot of discs inc originals are giving me dirty disc errors at various times during gameplay and during startup.

The machine is about 6 mnths old but it ahs been hacked with the latest firmware. So Warranty down the drain.

My choices see to be:

Repalce drive somehow.

Give to Microsoft but will have to pay.

Get new machine

What do you advice ?

i would try these first before replacing the drive... in this order

-cleaning the laser
-pot calibration
-replace laser (havent checked the prices on these lately. it might be cost effective to just replace the drive at this point but check first)

I've done Claening and pot calibartion which was fun i've put it on 3.0.

The problem seems to come and go but allways happens on pgr3 with backup and gears of war backup. I've tried backing these 2 games up again but the problems still accurs and at the same point in each game i.e gaers of war right at the beginning and pgr3 during racing.

So this leaves me unsure whether it's the disks even though i've tried 2 seperate makes Datawrite and Infiniti or the dvd lense on it's way out but considering i'm not a very regular player infact the units probably been only used 12 hrs in the last 6 mnths since I owned it.

if ur discs are getting scratched and dun read, or say unreadable disc. refer to llamas solution. Putting rubbber squares on the top of the dvd drive roof, prevent the disc from wobbling and hiting the laser.

Ive got about 5 backups i regulary play and they all play exceptional without any errors. I burned call of duty 2 a while back and the game plays fine but whenever i goto multiplayer it goes to a dirty disc error. Dunno what the cause of this could be, the original played flawlessly. This post is pretty much worthless but thought i would add it.

The discs are not getting scratched well only if the kids decide to play frizby with them anyway.

The multiplay bit with pgr 3 is exactly when it crashes with dirty disk error.

GOW just will not play when you try to start any mission. But as I say once you get the dirty disc error once no disks will load original or backup with the same error unless I keep turning the machine off and then back on again and then after about 3 or 4 attemps the origianls and most backups start working again that's why I'm not sure if it';s hardware but i've done my best on this front or bad backups but i've tries 2 different disc manufacturers.

I now people like there Verbatim i'm in th euk and like fast delivery with good prices oviously who are people using in uk ?
