disc wont read!

hi,

im trying to flash my box ive followed the tutorials as far as i could. i tried dvd disc, cds, and http cant get to flash.

I got an error on the main load up screen, ive asked before but people said it would go away once i flashed. On the load up screen for the bios options, i get an error right below my hd info.

"dvd 161: not detected" could this be the reason why my disc are not reading.
the dvd drive has been replaced, drive worked in the box before the mod.

As for the http i cant get the page to load i used the cross cable (orange) and says no connectivity in my network do i have to set somehting up?

Make sure you have a crossover cable, you can't tell by the colour of it. I have a blue and a black one and a red one

Does your DVD drive work when you disbale the chip?

i cant disable it i dont have the original hard-drive right now and i cant or am scared to lock the hard-drive, dotn know if i can unlock it

and its a 160 wd hd

Oh, well for now then, just try to get http working and figure out your dvd drive later.
So you have confirmed you've got a crossover cable by putting the ends side by side. The coloured wires are in a totally different order for each end (a patch cable they are in the same order, but sometimes reversed).

When you select http flash does it select a dhcp or does it fall back to the static ip?

cross over = a + b
Straight through = b + b

Look at your cable and make sure it's terminiated correctly.

One side a and one side b.

ya i got what catalyst said i follow the same legend no still no connection i tied laptop and desktop with dsn error page. A+B = cross over cable ill try to connect my other xbox and hard drive to see if i can get the disable chip to work to see if the dvd drive is good still (by remove the chip from the pins hope it starts up normailly).

Alright i got my http up and running i connected my box to my router instead of my pc. What do i upload to it? i read the http tutorial but im a little confused as what file to upload. Do i have to get the x3 bios. I just dont want to mess up another box

it has a 3.0.1 bios do i have to upload a newew one?

ok i went back to the stick went slow and read everythign i finally got the x3_bios 3108 Is that what i flash to it with the dips set to on, on, off, off, off.

ok.. you need to rename that biosfrom 3108.bin to bios.bin

ALSO make sure you use the 3108v16 IF you have a 1.6 board.

The above "renaming of bios" should be elaborated on, the ONLY time you need to rename any bios to "BIOS.BIN" is when you are burning it to a cd!

For the network flash we reccomended, don't even worry about it.

ya i got it up and running and i THINK my dvd drive is working now cause it gives me philips drive when i go to dvd info. I tried putting on evox and none of the disc read. tried cdr(sony), cdrw(tdk) , dvd-r(fuji film), dvdrw(maxwell). burnt the iso nothing will read all finialized. could the dvd still not be detected?
i have another drive but its the thompson one i dont know it that will be any better.

OK, here's the deal, SCREW making an Evox CD.

Go to Xbins, and get the auto-installer called "Slayers 2.6 FINAL"
It will completely setup a stock OR new HD, put on Evox, XBMP, XBMC, and Avalaunch.

BANG, you're done.

Slayers IS a dvd though, so to burn it use your or a friend's DVD burner

IF for some reason you just need to put the Evox dash on your box, you say that your Xbox is working fine now, then use the FTP program built into X3CL and just set the file on the drive you want it.

lol sorry i forgot to say that it was slayers final 2.6 auto (isn't it slayers evox...) and i did do it with a dvd burner on a fuji film dvd-r and a maxwell dvd-rw no read and i tried installing it by ftp: into the C: but it wont copy over any of the files (evoxdash.xbe, evox, skin folder.) nothing will copy over

alright i formated all the drives and it allowed me to put on the evox.xbe, and evox, skin folder and i see the new dashboard. but i dont see emulators or anything and shoudl i be able to play my original xbox games now right? i put in my tony hawk and choose dvd launch and nothing just said "CHecking" in top corner.
Is there way to get back from the evox dash to the x3 config live dash

Hold the white button on bootup to get to X3CL.

to run the Xbox like a normal M$ box just hold the power button longer than 1 second. (red LED)

You may need to change the settings in evox. When i first installed it, the "Launch DVD" button did nothing. Try leaving the disc in, and reboot.

i got evox installed i tried with the phillips nothing read. tried with thompson and the dvd-r one read installed everythign good to go now thanks for ur

is there a way to go back from like snes game back to the snes emulator? instead of goign back to the dash by bottom triggers start/select... and go to it all over?

Probably depends on which emulator your running. I have only used surreal 64, but i know that it is possible in that one.
