Do I have to update to dash 7371 before jtaging.

So I just purchased a xbox with dash 6685 on it. Its a xenon. I already got the Diodes and wires ready but the xbox is not here. I saw someware that before jtaging you need to update the retail dashboard to 7371. Do I have to do this or is it recommended. It just makes me feel really sad for me to just update the blades dash to nxe. If I do Can I just keep a copy of the xbox nand with the pre nxe dash on it. and then update it and use the updated nand to creat the xebuild image.

Also I will be using jrunner and a jrprogrammer before jtaging. I have never jtaged before but i have done rgh many times. Basically the same steps exept instead of installing the coolrunner I install diodes and a couple wires. Only cost me $1.99 for 10 diodes. So awesome.

OK no need to make 2 different threads... AGAIN DO NOT UPDATE YOU WILL LOSE THE ABILITY TO JTAG AND RGH WOULD BE THE ONLY OPTION !!!! I recommend you change the thermal paste and do 12 volt mod since xenon prone to rrod

Sorry posted 2 on accident had it on two tabs thinking that I have not yet posted it yet. And 7371 is still jtagable so I will not loose jtag ability. But

6685 is fine for jtag. Jtag away.

No need to update, just jtag as is. Change the thermal paste but dont bother with stupid 12volt mods, just edit the smc config to lower temps.
