Do latest iXtreme Firmware add backward compatibility??

Just a small piece of info... Do flashing 360 with the latest iXtreme Firmware make it Backward Compatible? I mean , can i play Xbox dvds (original & backed up) on Xbox 360 with iXtreme latest?
