Re: MRA Hack on a 838 drive

I don't know if this helps the situation but I had a batch of returned xboxes 10 in total and guess what they were all liteons. I tried the laser tweak to no avail. tried several things to cure the fault in the hope I could find a cure for this problem. None of the xboxes had been flashed by the way so NO data calibration issues involved. In the end I swapped the lasers out as couldn't get success, but on one drive i noticed the laser ribbon was kinked so I replaced it with a ribbon from a benq drive and that machines been running for over a year with no issues and has since been flashed too.
I then looked at all the other liteons and it seemed all the ribbons had suffered from some wear and tare.

Conclusion: I might be wrong but it could be a possibility that the ribbons on the liteon drive does have issues after so much time of use. Afterall it's very similar to the benq as we all know but the open tray error on a benq takes 2 mins to cure but not the case on the liteon..
Maybe someone else swap the laser ribbon and see if it helps..

Re: MRA Hack on a 838 drive

Gotta say, i've never done the mra hack in my life and i've flashed lots of liteon drives (apart from 83850 v2 or newer) and I have never had a problem with any of them. I use Aone discs and write at 4x, all xboxs I've flashed have never had an issue with this media. Personally, I think that the liteon lasers are good in a majority or drives but there are some out there that simply cannot hack reading anything other than originals. Calibration data has nothing to do with it in my experience.
