Hi guys,

Got hold of a Zephyr console for very cheap.

Date of manufacture is 2009, confused me at first cause I was expecting it to be a Jasper, except when opening it up there is a sticker on the motherboard saying ReworkedCPUHS. So the console is obviously a refurbished console from MS.

Started doing RGH on it today and noticed at the contact nearest the CPU that there are some of those little resistors/caps missing (please confirm as I am not sure myself.

See the picture. The console had never been opened, intact seal, can assure you I didnt break them off removing the x-clamps.

Anyway the console still works perfectly so I am just wanting to make sure that its going to be fine or should i get them parts replaced?

alot of times there are empty spot that look like something should be there. From the looks of it I would say that they werent ripped off because there is still solder there and therefor still copper pads there. Most of the time when those get torn off they take the pad with.
If the console still works just leave those alone.

Dont fix what isnt broken!

Well I wont worry about it then, cant get this bugger to glitch though, looks like quite a few people are experiencing the same problem with Zephyrs. Did my Falcon and Jasper no problem.

You need to check CB in the nand, just open your nand with 360 Flash Tool and check your CB, if it has been refurbished, they may have change the CB, meaning you can't glitch it.

Edit: The empty space in picture is for the X-clamp, X-clamp added pressure there and pulled the heat sink on to the CPU & GPU

The CB is 4578, bloody thing won't glitch at all though. Considering trying another Zephyr tonight and seeing the results.

I think you might be confusing the empty space Mickey as I know that part is for the X-Clamps, I was referring to the missing caps/resistors just to the left of the empty space in the middle. Like I say the console works fine but if it could potentially cause issues I do have a dead Zephyr laying around they could be removed from and moved to this board.

ok I wasn't looking close enough, missing resistors can't be good but if it's working with stock nand maybe just leave it stock, you may never get it to glitch

Well I've got another Zephyr to try but dont have much hope.

Why are they so awkward the Zephyrs? surely there must be a way to get them to glitch :-(

The biggest problem with any RGH is the installers. I have done several and never had an issue. Everyone wants to blame the coolrunner of programs but 9 times out of 10 it boils down to user errors.

Spot on ;)

I have done a shed load and not one problem and i have done slims and all phat models jasper falcon etc.

90% of the time it's cable situ and soldering.

Hang about a minute... how can you say the biggest problem is the installers?

I personally have done about 4 Jasper's and about 6 Falcons without any hitch, i use the same method each time with QSB's, I take my time and check everything over with a magnifier. Each one has worked perfect each time, the Falcon is definitely quicker at Glitching.

The first issue I have come across with is this Zephyr, my method is no different as any other console. I am currently doing a second Zephyr now and it will be interesting to see the results. However judging by most of the messages on the forums it seems that the majority of people are experiencing the same problems too. They are installers and I am sure they are doing the job correctly as they are experiencing the same as me.

So how are we the installers to blame?
