Hi
I reasently (yesterday) replaced my aladdin chip (in my 1,6 xb) with my brand new X3 with great expectations.
To my enourmous dissapointment It killed my xbox (do not worry, it's resurected with changed transistor / voltage regulator)
With the X3 on the pin header, the xb is dead (5V led lights up for 1 sec on X3), but no nothing.
Googled and SFF and found out that it had to be my soldering (even a n00b like me makes mistakes).
so I went over the solderings with a microscope, washed away old flux, appllied som fresh and soldered it with silver aloy tinn to make shure every solder was good. still no nothing (just the 5V led for a breef flash)
Googled some more and SFF'ed even more, but no luck, tryed with or without the bank switch, same.
Then I thougt it might be nice to know why the X3 chokes the xb, so I meashured the pin header on the X3, and then I found something "funny", my brand new X3 has a short circuit between 3,3V and gnd...
Now there will be a xmas without xbox... I do not think the webshop I bought this and 3 other (working) X3's wil manage to get it changed before xmas...
But, is there a known way of fixing this problem without voiding the waranty?
