Yeah of course I got stuck with a sh*tty Thomson drive, and I saw some tuts on Xbox Scene about tweaking the pot on the drive I was just wondering if anybody has tried it and does it work?

Yea it works (from a non-modded box) standpoint. I had some of my games that were not recognized and did it. They all play just fine now just pay attention to the warnings about laser intensity and the recommended Max & min. settings. The hardest thing was testing, I would jerk it a hair and try it out then do it again etc.
Adjusting the potentiometer can work. I have fixed a few XBOX DVD drives (Thomson & Philips) by reducing the resistance for the pot.
There are 2 things that you should understand about adjusting the potentiometer. First, it may not fix the DVD drive, or if it does.. it may only delay it's death. Second, what to adjust the pot to is different for every DVD drive & media compatibility.
