If you've unlocked it, then why not lock it again?

It's an extra few minutes of work...to ensure your console is as safe as possible...irrespective of XBL.

Only takes another couple of minutes to unlock in the future.

For live safety it's not necessary at all to relock sour drive again. I don't think M$ would try to flash any drive that's supposed to be locked.

M$ can detect if the drive is locked our not they don't need to try and update it

If MS locked the drive on the last update then they cannot write to it any more.

However, as already stated there's no point in leaving it unlocked in case they check for this in future updates.

Its best to lock it. Even if you aren't going on live newer discs contain newer dash and checks. Theres no telling what any one given game is going to check or try to update/patch. Best to return it to a locked status...

But in all seriousness, come on, if you are flashing it it is most likely taken apart and whether to have a unlocked pcb, MXIC with sputnik, or winbond with kami its right there to flip a switch/rub with alcohol. Not like it'll take a extra half hour
