Does the dashboard version affect what fw. ver. your DVD drive has, or does it stay the same?

Do you have to buy something like a replacement pcb at a certain dashboard to keep your lt drive working?

when updating/past to 2.0.13146 all phat lite-ons changes to 02510C, and slim 9504 (i think) does not change, only locks spi.
