does the new Xapter work with xecuter2.6 ce?

i broke my xapter solderless adapter while taking my chip out....lol. so i was wondering if the new style one with the blue LED's will work with my xecuter 2.6ce. Thanks

also is it worth it to get the xecuter 3 if im not gonna get the control pannel?
any major differences in the chip itself?
