hello i need some help please i have a 2.6 ce in which the bios got corrupted so i bought a programmer last year but can't get it to work the blue light blinks and and i get error 1010 and i'v tried everything i can think of and can't point out the problem i think its because i'm using an lpt1 port on a friends laptop and need a 378 maybe??? i don't have another computer with a serial port, i'm thinking of buying an x3 if i get the money since my xbox frags because the dashboard also got corrupted when i tried to replace the hard drive. Sorry for the long post but anyway my question do i have to buy an external programmer for the x3 and if i mess up flash on both banks or whatever can i easily reflash and retry it again?

You need to have the external switch connected to the X2.6 if memory serves me correctly.

Set the switches to enabled / bank1 / flash protect off and it should be detected.

I had the external switch connected with those exact settings i'v even tried connecting the wire that is soldered on the motherboard to my modchip while on the programmer and turning the xbox on lol i'v read older posts on this forum and saw that other people had this exact problem with no solution, i'v tried x2 bios manager 2.1, 2.3 and x2 flasher but still no go and i was looking for xia or something but couldn't find it. Do you still think the programmer even works or have tested it lately? i think its just my computer or the modchip is just dead but the modchip does light up though i'm not sure whats wrong i think i wasted my money so i'm thinking of getting an x3 if it has a built-in programmer so i won't have this problem again if i can't get it to work.

Yes you can boot from an X3 and once in FlashBIOS, unplug from the LPC and CAREFULLY connect the x2.6 with the external switch attached. Remember that the X3 and X2.6 face in different directions. Select your 1MB BIOS and flash to the chip - it should reprogram it ok.
