does your 360 need to be modded to play burned dvds?

i bought a used xbox 360 and i was taking it apart getting ready to start modding it, when i noticed that the warranty sticker had been taken off and then put back on...im thinking that maybe since it is used then there is a good chance of it already being modded. im still waiting on a game to download so i tried to play a burned dvd and it worked. so no im wondering do all xbox 360's support regular burned dvds...or has mine already been modded?

my 360 played burned dvd's before it was modded and they worked fine.

I meant burnt DVD movies... not games.
