doesn't finish reflashing?

Alright i have a box made on OCt 21 2004 (1.6?) & an X3 CE
the mod chip works and i get the FlashBios 3.0.1 screen
as I attempt to flash via HTTP the box reboots during the flash, and then red/green whatever led lights blink at me.

I have read some posts here in the forum that suggested double checking the solder points on the LPC rebuild, i took a volt meter to the thing and everything SEEMS to check out fine. I have tried Cromwell (newest) and of course the hacked out X3 Bios from xbins... well I'm officially lost, so any Ideas?

The first thing to do is find out which version xbox you have:

Then make sure you are using the correct version for your xbox.
I have read many posts where the chip works fine untill it is flashed where it then frags and these have been due to problems with pins 13 and 14 which need to be good in order to access x3cl but aren't used before then in the cromwell flashbios screen.

Thank you for your reply. Now I have since deteremined that my Xbox is ineed version 1.6. Also Prior to making my original post checked my solder points. I will, however, double check points 13-14. Thanks again and wish me luck.

I re soldered the thing, checked everything with a voltmeter.... still have the same problem, when i first tried this thing i would erase the whole thing and then start to flash (green bar) but would reboot before finishing.... now it just gets about half way or erasing and reboots... lame. Any Ideas? Points check out at 0 ohms

so yea im using 3.0.1 flashbios, tried using 3.0.3 but the damn thing wont even transfer much less erase

Exactly what is the file name of the bios you are flashing

Alright I tried doing it by http and I've tried cromwell_1024, cromwell, X3 3294, X3 3294 v16plus, ive also tried renaming them to bios just for fun and I have also made bios DVD which i renamed the file to BIOS.BIN. any ideas?

just as a side nore, reboot seems arbitrary while its erasing... dunno if it helps.... just seems like it keeps pointing back to soldering job, hoever i failed to mention that i believe that i one reflashed one of the banks with the flash bios once... i cant recall too well... im a try it right now, couldnt hurt?

hmmm I also noticed another thing, it seems that when it boots up into flash bios it randomly says "read only?"; both chip and pro switch are not protected, sometimes it says it sometimes it doesnt... is it because im sometimes using the backup bios?

ok protection problem is not because of backup bios..

It could be soldering but try this and let me know what happens

u need to boot backup and set switches to off,on,off,off then flash X3 3294 v16plus via http (there is no need to rename the file)

ok so i get the read only thing.... gonna flash ..... before flashing i noticed the X symbol ont he pro switch it a bright color ( im colored blind) ... yay for some reason i got unknown flash! Halting.... im a try again.... ok so i rebooted with the protected (didnt get the "read only?" thing) and i unprotected it and set the switch to off on off off and lets see ..... im doing it via http like you said .... im flashing with X3 3294 v16plus... alright it tried to flash it and then it jumps into a triple boot. Just like to say i appreciate your help~!

ok (not red green colour blind i hope)
flash protected is green
flash unprotected is red...

So did it complete the flash and then reboot...
by triple boot do you mean it goes on & off three times then FRAGS (Flashing Red And Green).
If so then you probably have a bad or incorrect bios version
are you sure about the file you have and the xbox version you have

I suppose it still sounds like a sodder problem.... however like i said i checked the points as ugly as they look. ( like my second time doing it?) I was having problems with these cheap irons i bought and the contacts ended up look like crap, and wouldnt heat the point enough then too much ( heated the platic the pins were connected to and moved them down... however the are still making contact according to my eyes and volt meter).

no im not red green colored blind thankfully. it tripple boots then frags, it doesnt complete the flash it doesnt look like I see it erasing and then reboots, never see the green bar anymore Ive seen it once or twice.

as for Xbox version im sure its 1.6 , I have the samsung chip no fan on vid processor and the xbox symbol on the chip that determines version, and the power connector is the more modern looking one

yes agree thats a 1.6

i'm reluctant to blame the soldering completly here as u get it to boot flashbios.
however without pics its difficult to say.
I guess if you are not confident in it then get a decent iron and touch up the joints...if they are bad or soldered fairly cool then they will come back to haunt you anyway.

Also D/L the bios again and extract using winrar and flash via http X3 3294 v16plus

no just a 1.6...the 1.6b has Hynix ram not Samsung
