 Just installed the X3 for v1.6 but having problems.....when the power button is pushed it boots up as though there's no modchip connected....very strange...X LED shines RED. Sold points are excellent and I do have 2 blue LEDs lit on the X3 Chip. Anyone have any idea why its not booting to the bios screen? help will be greatly appreciated...

If a big RED X is showing on the switch, you have your chip disabled and it is doing just what it is supposed to.

Press the power button quickly and the switch should go BLUE. That would turn the X3 on.

Did the quick press but still getting the big RED X. Even tried both the power and eject button at the same time to get the purple X but nothing happens...any other suggestions?

I checked the d0 again and it seems fine....if the chip is lit up with the blue LEDs ...doesnt that mean the chip is functioning?

Had exactly the same problem with mine - same version 'box too. The only way I fixed it was to remove the board completely and resolder all my connections on the LPC rebuild and the 5V lead.

I know your solder points look great, but they are definitely worth re-checking. I know it's a pain, but it's worth it!

Blue led's on the chip itself just mean that the chip is getting power. Not necessarily that the Xbox mobo is recognizing it. I'm 99% sure it's either your D0 solder or your points 13 & 14 solder. Those are the pins that allow the chip to "hijack" the BIOS.

Good luck!

Thinks for all these suggestions...I will re-check the d0, pin 13 & pin 14...will let you know if I am successful...

right behind you
if your solder points were excellent your chip would be working

as said above, 2 blue led's indicates power.
if your xbox doesnt even act as if its been chipped, your d0 is the problem (or ono of)

Pulled everything out and re-soldered and triple checked d0, pin 13 and 14 but X3 is still booting with a big RED X with a quick press and boots to the MS Dash with a long press....is it worthwhile to trip to load a new bios?

As a test, try jumpering your D0 point directly to ground. This fixed the problem on mine. I also put in an inline switch & mounted it to the case.

Switch ON = D0 connected to ground = Xecuter chip boots
Switch OFF = D0 NOT connected to ground & M$ Dash boots

Kind of a klugey way to do it, but it works. Also adds an extra level of protection if you use live. When the external switch is in the off position, the chip is diabled.

Good luck!

no if all the banks are off the chip boots a 1mb flash size. this is for people that don't want a switch.
