Double display on Monitor

Installed X3 and it showed a double display on the monitor. Two identical screens side by side. This is not the case when I boot to the X-Box, it just shows the single screen.

Flashed the BIOS but still two screens. Also X-Box boot came up with "Call technician" message, but still single screen.

Installed Linux and two desktops show and still get error message on single screen X-Box.

Could this be a wiring problem? If so any ideas on which pin, or wire?

Very grateful for any info or assistance.

OK Checked out the 05 error message on Google ( I didn't realise what it was) and have locked the HDD. X-Box boots OK now so thanks for that.

Now I just have to get the screen working properly.

The original bios that came in X3. Then I flashed Cromwell in. I had the split screen from the start. I am UK PAL so basic X-Box displays OK.

The video output is going to my computer monitor via a VGA adaptor. I have not been able to try the standard composite lead unless I strip it out and take it to a TV.

I've tried going into the advanced settings on the BIOS screen and have altered the Video settings to Widescreen - no change, and also NTSC(USA) - still no change.

The problem must be related to the X3 or the BIOS as the standard X-Box is perfectly OK.

Perhaps I'll get the xbins BIOS if Cromwell was there from the start (I was only following the procedure in a mag article). Perhaps it might make a difference.

sounds like u have a bios...not cromwell as u stated earlier..
Cromwell only allows u to flash a working bios to it..ie there is no settings for video etc.
still think this is an ntsc issue..

u say u changed settings in advanced for the bios...what version do u have???
latest is 2913..

It is very difficult to see but it is trying to boot the Linux CD. It says, half off the top of the screen. "XBOX LINUX CROMWELL BIOS 2.40" It also asks for the Linux CD but before that appears, if I move right, the menu at the bottom changes allowing "Other Boot" or "Advanced" to be selected.

I have got to get this sorted as it is so difficult to read. I'll probably get a TV in here this evening and try the standard video output to see if I still get the dual screen.

I am trying to get 2913 but it seems to be difficult to find. I found an entry on P2P but it is not showing as available at the moment.

I think you are probably right about it being NTSC. Trying to use a PAL/VGA adaptor with it is screwing it up I expect.

Thanks for your help so far.
