Hi!.

My NS has FW 6.1.0. and SX PRO - OS v2.3 (not emunand activated). To date of today all of my backups .XCI work correctly and I never play on line to avoid the ban. From December 25 my son will begin using the console and for much that I have read in the forum I do not manage to clarify two doubts... Please some expert who could advise me!

1.- Should I activate emunand?

2.- Is advisable now to update to v2.4 Beta or better to continue in v2.3?

3.- Is advisable update to 6.2.0 (ChoiDujourNX) or better continue in 6.1.0 until some new game should need this FW?

(I have learned here that in a modified console it's better to have installed ancient versions of FW and OS unless it's needed by force...).

Thanks and regards from Spain!

Best thing depending on how old your son is, is to watch when he is playing to make sure he does not update. 6.2 works now as of SX2.4Beta, but you never know when Nintendo will release a new update and what that will break when it comes to custom firmwares.

You can activate emunand and use autorcm so that the console will not boot fully without you using your pro dongle or how ever you are pushing the payload to the switch for custom firmware. If you enable that and are running 2.4Beta you can update the emunand with ChoidujourNX to 6.2. If you decide to stay on 2.3 right now you can just stay at 6.1 unless there are games asking you to update to the newest firmware.

2.4 works just fine. I personally am still on 6.1 until I see a reason to update. All my games work just fine on 6.1 with OS 2.4. If you do not like 2.4 then go back to 2.3.

I'll try to help

1. This taken from Team Xecuter man page -

The Switch uses a NAND Flash storage chip to store all of the system software, as well as your save games and other assets. With EmuNAND we create a shadow copy of this storage from which you can run SX OS. The benefits from doing this are that you keep your SX OS "world" separated from your original firmware. This also means you can keep your switch on an older firmware, while running the latest and greatest firmware inside of your EmuNAND.

Another upside of consolidating your SX OS usage from your original firmware usage is vastly reducing the risk of a network ban. You can run SX OS in EmuNAND, of course with our Stealth Mode enabled, and anything that is littered on the EmuNAND's filesystem is not visible to the switch in Original Firmware mode.

2. I'm going to jump right in and update to 2.4 but if your happy just now probably best to wait and see if any bugs are discovered

3. Same as above reply. New games probably won't work so you will have to upgrade to 6.2.0 eventually

My son is 8 years old so I have the NS in stealth mode... airplane mode... and without connection information to wifi. I will remain for the moment in 6.0.1 / v2.3...

Thanks to all!
