Downgrade a game through NAND backup?

Hi all,
I upgraded an nsp based game on February 1, 2020 and I don't like the update changes (version 1.1) and want to return to the prior version 1.0.

I have several NAND backups from before the game update was installed.
I'm using SXOS 2.9.3.
I clearly don't understand NAND, emuNAND, and save game files because I thought this would work.

With the game update installed, I was on 6.2.0 for official firmware and 9.1.0 for emunand.
I did a new NAND backup before doing anything.
Then I grabbed a new microsd card just to keep the original intact and untouched.
I restored a NAND backup from December 2019, prior to ever upgrading the game (it only had the one update).
I booted into sxos and created a new emuNAND with a hidden partition which required reformatting of the microsd card.
Now the official firmware is 6.2.0 and the emuNAND is 6.2.0.
I installed the game from the nsp but it does not fully appear on the home screen. It shows an empty slot with a spinning wheel and won't launch. In emuNAND, system settings, data management, manage software, it shows a grey question mark icon and says 'not played', 260MB. When I go into Checkpoint and the Manage Save Data option in settings, no save data for the game exists. I assumed that I would lose my save game data by using a new microsd card with the reformat.

Is my goal possible with SXOS?
Is there a step that I am missing?

UPDATE:
Well, I was playing around in SX Installer 3.02 and was looking at the game. I got a dialog box that said this game is not compatible with this firmware version. So I updated the emuNAND firmware from the newly created 6.2.0 version to 9.1.0 and the game works perfectly. I'm playing on version 1.0. I lost all of my save data, of course, but that was known and expected. I'll just have to unlock all of the items again.

Before reading your edit, I was going to say that you probably need to update your emunand as most games are requiring higher FW than 6.2 now. Seems like you got it sorted though.

Yes, thanks for the reply. Everything worked as expected up until that point. But that was an easy glitch to fix.
