Downgrading A Jtag Dash to Pre-NXE

I've been wondering for the past year if it's possible to downgrade a Xenon Jtag's Dashboard manufactured in November 2005 to the last Pre-NXE Dash 6717? Jrunner doesn't have the option nor does XeBuild. This is just for pure enjoyment and testing, I'm not actually going to run games like Halo 4 on it. I wanted to look deeper into the blades and guide menu that I used to use.

I just downgraded Zephyr with CB 4578 to RETAIL dashboard 7371, just for fun. It boots! Now I can sell it as JTAG'able, however it is not )))

So it's obviously possible to downgrade to 6717 as well if someone with more knowledge will add corresponding dash files to xebuild and J-Runner.

If it is already jtag'd, then I,m pretty you can use any dash.. you just have to add them in j-runner
Well the thing is, is that when I look at the dash files in 6717 theres only 1 file there which is the su20076000_00000000 one. When you look at 7371 you see that too plus all of these other files like the xam.xex , hud.xex, bootanim.xex, and etc.

I really don't see the point in this, other than 'ok, that's what the blades dash looks like'. Functionality is extremely low and you can't run any of games from the last 3 years.

I'm not being negative, I just don't see any purpose to this. It's not like MS removed something from that dash (akin to PS3's OtherOS debacle).

Yep, I noticed that too, and without this bunch of files xebuild says that CRC32 checksums don't match. If you delete these checksums from .ini file or replace them with suggested checksums the image could be built, but it gives E79 system error on the screen. I tried 6717 and got E79, then decided to add files for 7371 from the scratch and got the same E79. So looks like it is more complicated than that. With files for 7371 that J-Runner downloads from the server everything works fine. So for some reason it uses bunch of these unpacked .xex files besides su20076000_00000000. For dash 14699 and later there are no unpacked files, only su20076000_00000000 one and everything works. Mystery.

Yea you seem to understand me [email protected] As for the others, you just can't seem to understand the purpose of what I'm trying to do. it's just something I wanted to do and try out some old stuff I had, I already knew about the FSD skins & etc. I also knew about the 1888 dash app hack. I guess this one will continue to remain a mystery until someone can successfully show us if it's possibly to downgrade below 7371. Currently working on a nice upload for you guys as a finally project that's been sitting for a looooooooooong time. I think you guys will enjoy it when it's done.

I think you don't understand what YOU'RE doing.

Whatever kernel you build, your bootloaders will still be relevant to your existing setup. You gain no extra ability by running a 6717 dash. FTR, I've built a blades dash for a slim console so of course it's do-able. Rather than dropping hints on what you're intending to do, why not just say it?

So how do we build pre-nxe nands? As for my intentions, it's nothing major, just some stuff I want to retry doing. I also have a RGH Slim with a demon, so if I could run the pre-nxe dash on that it would be pretty cool to try out.

Stuff like what?

No-one should be helping you with anything until you've stated what you want to do.

I can't see how running 6717 would be cool for any longer than 5 minutes due to almost anything useful not being supported.
