did you flashed it? did you replaced PCB maybe? done any mod on drive... if flashed with wich firmware etc.
sometimes new lasers are faulty... pot it near to 3.70 no more then 4.10
if it does give you reading and show "Play Game" firmware is ok and is all about your laser. sometimes laser ribbons are faulty... rarely but they are. get new ribbon for laser. check if you are flashing correct dvd key to it. and get new laser.

please write how and what you did on it.

all i did was flash it, it was a console that never had the drive touched, i flashed it and it didn't read games anymore.

this happened to a slim liteon i flashed, i replaced the pcb with the unlocked one & games didn't read..

i have no idea why my last 2 consoles that i flashed stopped reading discs..

i heard that flashing while keeping laser ribbon in could damage the laser.. never had to remove it before & i have flashed a lot of liteons before.. maybe my ck3 kit is getting old.

so now i replaced the laser for the phat liteon & it still doesn't read games.. maybe the laser i bought is faulty to begin with... i bought it from ebay user called gadget-master-ltd ...

it could be the laser ribbon, looks kinda damaged after removing it so many times so i'm going to replace that first.

if laser ribbon doesn't solve it then i will have to get a laser that works..

if that doesn't solve it i'll just have to get a new drive & only flash when laser ribbon is disconnected.

so a lot of hassle .. but eventually i will find the cause & solution so i will report back here. any suggestions please let me know.

if you have a spare dvd drive magnet lying around you could make a short video of you inserting a disc with the lid off the drive. Sometimes you can see what the problem is by the way the drive acts.

i am using tx equipment, infact it was because of the ck3 kit that messed up my drive..

anyways i have the solution, the laser did need replacing because the ck3 kit burned it out,

then after that my ribbon was busted from removing it so many times, so after fitting in the new laser i bought a new ribbon & PROBLEM SOLVED :)

so the tip is when flashing MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE LASER RIBBON, remove the ribbon part from the pcb board as it causes no damage to the ribbon.. i had to buy a new ribbon because i kept pulling it from the laser part & messed up the metal wires...
