I have a customer who game me their 360 to fix. It had a Benq drive in that wouldn't eject or read games. He had another benq so I flashed the key over and that one wouldn't eject either. The drives were pretty battered as he had tried jamming things in it to retrieve a game etc...

So I ordered him a new Benq drive from consoles and flashed the key to it. Surprise the drive wouldn't eject either in the console or connected to the ck3pro. I can hear it trying to.

I opened the drive case and tried ejecting it. It ejected slowly but it did eject. The drive was dusty (weird since i just got it in from xconsoles) so I blew out the dust and tried reassembling it and sure enough it wouldn't eject. I am stumped...

help? Thanks!

Get the drive in the eject position. Then use a screw driver or something small to take the black belt out. Soak the belt and hot water for about 15mins. I usually do around 30mins. Then dry it and put it back in the drive. That has worked for me sometimes. You could also try replacing it if you have spare ones. That works as well. Try those and see if you get any success. Sometimes the belt gets worn and stretched out of place and isn't strong enough to open the try when the magnet in the top tray is engaged.

Im thinking with a new drive he should not have to change belts. Try different cables to connect to the mobo and see if that works. Im sure I had this problem before but cant remember off hand but I know it was something simple.

I've see a thread on here some where it turned out to be a bad flash I think it got fixed by using the stock files from LT+ folder and adding your keys to them and reflash I think ??? Not sure sure but worth a try maybe

Did it not eject with the ck3 before the flash and not after if so then proly not leads

I'm gonna try the water trick in the am. Giving up on it now. I didn't solder anything on the drive so it can't be that. I think the belt may just not be strong enough to pull out the tray with the magnet from the case pulling on it. Just a theory.

Will report back

There is another thread about it and two chaps came up with the fix as I had same issue with two drives. Its because the magent on teh top of the case to the lens is so strong at times if teh band is dirty or oily, or gets stretched then it isnt strong enout to open tray.

One method that worked was cleaning the band, as well as putting in hot water as you say (or boiling for a few minutes) then put under cold water.

Also another chap came up with the idea of using those little labels that you put around teh holes of paper in binders and putting a couple or so on the disc in teh top lid to weaken the grip by the magnet

Here is teh thread

i have always found that if u tighten the case screws too much it can affect the drives opening. try loosening the case to just tight enough to hold it in place, (360 case not dvd drive) if your getting 3 drives doing the same thing i would say thats your issue. you can tell if a case has been done up too tightly as it bows slightly in the corners where the screws are. also place the console horizontally and try opening the drive.
