Right first time on here so a bit of a newbie........

I have just purchased a new dual layer dvd drive Atapi dvd dc 16x8x5 and stuck it into my computer the drivers loaded from windows without a problem and the drive burns without a problem using 4.5 gb disc's no matter what i try to burn. The problem starts when i try to back up xbox 360 games using dual layer dvd disc's i have created various image file types .iso .img etc etc, and i have ss patched and stealth patched as i got told to do this for the backup to work. The image files are fine as i have checked these with various software but i get a problem in the burning process it gets to around 50% and i get an I/O error on the drive
but this only seems to happen with xbox360 game image files, i am trying to burn using img burn, clone cd, alcohol, nero to no success.

I read somewhere that i need to flash my PC dvd writer drive but i seem to have the lastest firmware....

I have 1G memory, 120GB hardrive, and an Amd althlon 1900+ processor which should be capable of doing this process, other files of this size burn ok.

Can Anybody Help...??

It's your dvd burner, I had the same problem. My HP dvd640i burner had never failed me until it came to 360 games, but with them it would bomb out at 50% with an I/O error just like you said. I grabbed a Pioneer 111D as recommended on this site and it's been smooth sailing since, I'd recommend doing that.
