You can set the switches whilst the xbox is on but the changes will have no effect until u re-boot.
Equally you can set them whilst the box is off...no lights will display on a pro switch/control panel until you switch on however.

Hi there

Ok thanks for the reply,

So you say that changes wont take effect untill i reboot, so im about to flash my bios, does that mean if i change the switchs now while im at the flasbios screen and then flash it and then reboot it will fine and would have flashed the right 1mb area i selected.

Or do i have to select the 1mb area first then reboot so the changes take effect and it knows i want to flash the 1mb space and then flash it .

Sorry for the dumb questions, its just i made it through the X3 install with out any problems and i don't want to wreck it here at this stage....

Thanks again
Ben

Ok i just re read the X3 Installed, now what do I do?? (Q&A)

and found what im asking

Q: What should I set the bank switches to?
A: Boot your FlashBIOS. Once booted, set the switches to on on off off off (1MB 1234) to flash the 1st 1MB Bank. You need to select a 1MB Bank as the X3 BIOS is a 1MB BIOS (duh ;)).

SO i do it while its on

Again thanks for your help

Hey Chief,

You can change the Dip Bank through X3CL (X3 Config Live) Your bios. If you do it through the bios you will have to keep changing it again, because your software dependent, meaning your Soft Dipping. If you use your Hardware Dipping bank (Pro Switch) you don't have to keep changing it. The first 1MB Bank is Dip Banks 1-4 which is 0ff-0ff-0n-0n on the Pro Switch, and the second 1MB Dip Bank is 5-6 which is on-off-on-on

I hope this helps.
