Dumb Rumor Fail

A really dumb rumor has been brought to our attention, we figured that if anyone else discussed it as fact you can tell them from us that they are full of it and to stop talking nonsense.

Pretty sad state of affairs... and I'm truly hoping the same fate doesn't befall the PS3. The hackers behind the JTAG stuff made those deals with MS to delay the release of the exploit until it was patched -- so let's just hope the same doesn't happen with Sony/PS3. Still, I'm not scuppering my chances THIS time! I'm keeping my PS3 at 3.41 indefinitely XD

I gotta say this is the dubmest rumor we've heard in a while, and we've heard some real dumb sh*t in our time.

We were heavily involved with the original JTAG team. The hack was in development for almost 2 years and it was never deemed ready for public consumption until the release was forced due to a disgruntled ex-team member who shall remain nameless revealed all details to M$ as a "f**k you".

The release was then hastily made. No deals with M$ were done - I mean SERIOUSLY what kind of 8 year old would come up with that conclusion?

As said the hypervisor hack was out with the kk hack up, It was being "perfected" to not use disc and boot off another nand, M$ were aware due to the kk hack, and had plans to halt it long before it went "public".

Sure thing mate, if you say so, no deals were made and no money changed hands. Right. You just happened to be sitting on this info for years and years and years and it magically only hit the public AFTER Microsoft managed to patch the exploit.

Seriously though, in my own defence; it was a rumour. Something that has been said across many forums for a long time now. Was it false? Maybe, but I wasn't to know that - nor was the first/last person "perpetuating" said rumour. You might want to keep reading that thread to find further discussion about it Or you could post a thread acting all hurt and such, trying to name'n'shame me as if I was the one who took a sandwich board and started running naked across a cricket field screaming "HACKERS HELP MICROSOFT CLOSE EXPLOIT! EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!"

Oh and FYI; LOVING your hardware/software. I've still got my old Xbox modded with your ace Xecuter 2 Pro, now I'm JBing my PS3 using your Minimus. So whatever you think of me, I don't really care, because I do still love your hardware ^_^

It's a really dumb rumor bro. I've had dealings with M$ employees for years through my real life work. They would laugh at this - seriously. I could care less who else has discussed it - I read you talking about it and that's all I needed to make a comment. To be fair I've never read anyone else mention this, but i really don't go reading boards 99% full of noobs talking sh*t to each other and spreading bullshit and innuendo. It's a huge fail.

Aside from that I know what happened because I was involved - and there is no conspiracy. The guy who leaked the info knows who he is and he knows what he did. there was no deal with anyone - we were just pissed that it had to be released at the stage it was it - it simply wasn't ready - it was VERY close to being busted wide open like we did with Xbox. That's not going to happen now, so its a huge fail for everyone in the scene.

Aren't most rumours? Like I said; I wasn't the first to mention this (and I probably won't be the last) all I did was discuss what I *heard* with other members of PSX-Scene who *heard* the same thing. If we're all wrong, then so be it! I'd like nothing better than to BE wrong about this, otherwise it's a scary scenario.

Then perhaps it was just a simple case of Chinese Whispers? Someone says something, someone else repeats it but gets a tiny fact wrong, so on and so forth.. until eventually what starts out as

"ex-team member leaked the files before they were ready, necessitating in MS fully patching the exploit before the chain of trust was shattered"

suddenly becomes;

"the whole team secretly collaborated with MS, helping them fix the exploit in order to further empower the Illuminati's goal at world domination!!111"

No ass-kissing either, the Xecuter 2 Pro is amazing and is STILL running my Xbox today, quite happily. I'd take that over a softmod any day of the week .. same goes for the Minimus (though sadly I was an early adopter so I didn't get chance to grab the v2/32KB device)

The v1 will work the same as the v2 - we simply ran out of 16K IC's thats all

Oh, nah.. I just meant I'm on the 16K device rather than the beefier 32K one. Though in the end it didn't really matter any way, as all the current payloads are fully functional on 16K devices

I get 403 as well, but reloading a few times solves it.
