i am having a problem flashing with the new x2 bios. its the 5030, it gets half-way and it stops. i figured the chip had a problem but i tried it on another duo x 2 and it did the same thing. i belive these are clones. i did flash 4983 to one of the banks and that flashed fine. i really like to get some help on this.

I believe with the clones there has been some trouble flashing them, but it's not a problem with the bios. Try using a different method of flashing, such as EvoX or Eurasia. BTW Xecuter released version 5031 this morning.

yeah i always use evo-x for flashing and it frags right in the middle of it. the duo-x is suppose to have 512k on both banks, so i don't know why its fraging. what is the best method for flashing these chips with out fraging ? and if it coes to it i will look to buy and xecuter 2.6.

The thing is it's not a DuoX2 if it's a clone... clones are sh*t quality most of the time so don't judge a product just on how badly others imitate it. My DuoX2 chip works beautifully with this bios. It's probably a good idea to buy an X2.6 chip, as it does have more features (i think?) like front bios switches.

i got an xecuter 2.6, flashed it just fine with 5031. all settings work fine =) but i tried all the flashing programs on this duo x and it still frags halfway throught. i will try 5029 . i will be doing a alot of hot swapping ;) until i find the right solution. and i agree on these clones of the duo x2 that they are sh*tty, i love the duo line of mod chips (originals that is ) so i am not saying their crap.

nope 5029 doesn't work either, still frags. i am thinking these clones only have 256k of space on each bank. it only gets half-way, meaning its out of memory =/

I dont know if this helps. I am using Duo-X 2, too and this is how it went for me:

x2 5028, flashing with evo-x. It went 1/4, then "stopped". but when you looked very close to the screen, you saw its still moving. After ~ 15 Minutes it was done.
After that, booting from that bank gave me a frag. I wanted to switch to the other bank, and bootet from that. I was surprised to see x2 5028 booting from that...
Checked back the 1st bank, which still gave me a frag.

I have flashed at least 15-17 Duo X2 chips the last 2 weeks, 1 or 2 old blue ones that come with Evox M8 and X2 bios and the new white one's flashed with flashbios 3.03 and cromwell 2.32. I usually flash the chips with 5028, 5029 or 5031 over the network and i have put the x2config.ini in the install folder of my evox install disk so everything works just fine. Maybe you have a batch of bad chips, sh*t happens i had a few bad one's a few months ago but i was able to get replacement chips from the store that sold them to me.

Can you make a picture of your chip?

{edit} And yes, the banks are both 512k. if you want to do it right, you could make a flash and bios disc to flash the bank with the cromwell 2.32 bios, that way you will still have flashbios 3.03 on bank 1 so you can flash easily and fast over the network in case you need the 2nd bank.

Just to give you and idea.......i hope it doesnt confuse you

no no no no

its STILL a 256k bios - its simply mirrored

flashing a REAL 512k bios and a 2x256k mirrored bios are two different things

there is nothing wrong with the bios. whats wrong is your hardware. thats it nothing else.

why dont you buy REAL chips that were developed by a REAL team

not cheapmod rip offs who also put our bios name in their lame ass title ?

After collecting some experience, i also think it would have been better to got for X2/X3 Modchip.. If i ever need a new one (or maybe for xbox 2, who knows), i will go for sure for an X3 modchip - no question

The DuoX2 has two 512k banks. I flashed mine with Evox and it too stopped halfway. But when I rebooted my xbox it worked without a problem.

It looks like the progress bar is displaying a progress for a 1MB bios, therefor it stops halfway. Could it be that evox detects the X2 Live bioses as 1024k?

Sorry about the confusion, and Yes I know the bios works a 100% I ran it on both my X3 and Zenuim and both work a 100%.

Enayway I think I got ripped off with these Duo2xs the first two I got as samples both gets identefied as a AMD flashable chip, but the other 20 I orderd identefy themselfs as hynix, yea great isnt it,enayhow both types stops flashing after about 1/4 of the way,and I got duo2's becouse of the main reason of crappy hals *ss Alladin adv clones >.<

Enayhow I will upload a pic of them later.
