Hi all,

Im just now experimenting with burning my own originals of games, ive tried to do this and i keep getting a dirty disc error. The progrm ive been using is clone and my DVD drve is a pioneer DVD-RW DVR 108 Dual Layer Burner. The media i have tried that was given to me was a Aone 8 speed dual layer media. Ive followed textbooks tutorial (Very Good). I set my burn to 1 speed and my pioneer should auto set book mark. Is the dirty disc problem down to the above media and drive ?? Im now awaiting in the post the Verbatim Media. Has any one got any ideas ??

Cheers

Use the Verbatim when you get them and I think you will find it will work. Verbatim are prefered media.

other brands with the same media code as Verbatim dvd+r DL 8.5gb(MKM001)

Dynex - good to go
Imation - not recommended (very low reliability rate)
Mitsubishi - not recommended (very low reliability rate)
Philips - good to go
Sony - good to go

Hi,

Thans everyone for the advice, im now waiting for my verbatim media now. Cause this aone stuff isnt very good for my backups. The game is reconised in the drive but when it tries to load it comes up with a dirty disc error. Can this be caused by bad media, i do my backups as a 1x with Image burn and set the layer break to the correct requirements.

Cheers

You must set the layer break.<---isnt need if you have a .dvd file.
And you must use DVD+R DL. And if you have a hitachi drive verbatims are the only way to go. hitachis are tempermental and require the best media.

Hi,

Ive been tting the layer break and using DVD +R DL and my drive is a M28 and my firmware is set to xtreme version 5.2b is this ok ? or is the media at fault ive been trying Aone DVD+R DL and been getting dirty disc error.
Ive got one backup of my game and i used a fortis media type they seem to work ok with my drive. Are xbox 360 drives very temp with media types do they need to be a little more expensive then the cheaper brands ??

Hi,

Thanks for the advice mate, so if you have had no problems with this type of media what other problems could it be with my initial setup is :

Xbox 360 : Xtreme firmware 5.2b
PC Writer : Pioneer DVR 108 (With Latest Firmware)
Sotware : Clone CD / Image Burn WriteSpeed 1.0 x
with layer break set.
DVD Media : Aone Dual Layer (240 min) DVD+R

What else could i beding to make the media not work with diry dsc error ?

Cheers

I have the same burner as you but use verbatim media and haven't had a single coaster. I use clone cd at 2.4x .
If you have an image with the .dvd file try burning it with clone cd, you don't have to do any layerbreak settings as it's all done for you.

All Pioneer DL burners automatically bitset DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM. As far as I know there are no options to change booktype settings in Pioneer drives.

Hi,

Ive had a look into the bookmarking options still no luck, i think my drive isnt suitable or going a bit funny when copying Dual layer media. The game boots up then i get a dirty disc error.

Im thinking now of getting the Pioneer 112D to do my backups, my only concern with this drive is it just as easy installing this into my computer. Then use either Image burn / Clone Cd with the correct layer setting and then copy the image to a dual layer verbatim media, or do i have to flash the drive with any particular firmware. Or just use the drive staight away ??

Cheers

You dont have to flash the Pioneer with anything to burn a disc, you can update the fw for it if you like. And yes it will be a straight swap for installing into your PC, just make sure you match the jumper from the old one.

TRY XBOX BACKUP CREATOR V2.5 TO RIP THE GAME THIS FANTASTIC PROGRAM DOES EVERYTHING FOR YOU, NO NEED TO CHANGE THE BOOKTYPE OR THE LAYERBREAK INFO, JUST PUT YOUR ORIGINAL IN AND YOUR BLANK DVD+R DL MEDIA IN AND AWAY YOU GO.
