GENERAL DVD drive casemod

Is there any tutorials/guides on how to make a nice open dvd case?

Going to do mine soon but I'm not exactly sure what is the best way to do it.

I'm thinking something like this :

Excuse my epic paint skills

Red = Cut
Blue = Plexi
Black = Original casing


Any tips?

i got a dvd drive i cut abit like that in blue but i did not use plexi with it did you see the pic in you other post of the drive with plexi used??

if you go back to gamernuub post with his case mod i posted a pic there showing how to mount the plexi and prolly good to use 3mm not 5mm

I got some 2mm

I think that will work

You would not necessary need plexi glass either, we all know the plastic that electronic producers use to wrap their usb cables and such, the one you can't rip open and need to use scissors

I cut this design last night and everything went fine

you got the shape well there buddy nice cuts if you have the sanding drum for your dremel id just give the edges a going over before you paint buddy

Yeah, I tried...

It's actually not that sharp as it looks. Also I will probably sand it more down with some steel wool to get the "chrome" look. If that doesn't turn out good I will just paint it white

Looks good but you still need to smooth it off as it looks a little rough
